G RE FORWARD REDDING PLNNING COMMiTTEE
The following communication, dated August l.st, was submitted in,full by Mr.
Jack Butler: .
Honorable Geo. C. Fleharty
Mayr, City of Redding ,
Dear Mr:. .Fleharty:
During. the past six weeks a r'aup of local citizens liave been meeting,
at the suggestin of the president of the Redding Chamber f Cammerce, ,
to discuss and formulate basic plans for the formation f a Frward
Redding Committee. , , `
_
This cmmittee when organized will under, take a:tho;rough study f all
f the problems affecting the development of this community. Sme-
time prior to June 1, 1956 the comrizittee vill render a cornplete report
an aIl of the subjects studied, together with recommendatins, to the
City Cuncil for its.consideration, These plans will anticipate the
growth of the community over the next ten year period and will .be
listed in the order of their importance, as current canditins seem
to indicate.
Thase who are nflw serving on the committee are as follows:
Sherman Fulkerth Arch Merrifield ,
Charles Bull Jackson Price
Paul Bodenhamer._. . Howard Thatcher '
Mrs. Fred Dusel, Jr.- Carl A. Williams .
John Fitzpatrick Judge Jaseph F. 111eck, Jr. ,
ex-officio
The informal planning_ cmmittee is working as a vlunteer group.
It now seems adyisable to suggest that the City Cauncil cflnsider the
appaintment of this planning committee as an official city bdy thereby
giving it a strnger standing.within the community. This will alsa
place the City Council in a position to be informed of the progress of
the study groups as the plans are developed.
We sincerely trust that this meets with your approval, -
Sincerely yours, .
Forward Redding Planning Committee
