��� SALES TAX ORDINANCE
Ci:ty :�ttorney Cibula submitted Ordinance Na. 481 for sec�ond reading,
MOTION: Made by Councilman Holyfield, seconded by Councilmari Smith
that Or.dinance No, 481 be. adopted, ordinance to provide that the cit'y sales '
tax shall be collected_on retail sales made� on or afte'r January 1;�1-95�i�; iristead
of July 1, 1955, and .that the first quarterly payment of sales tax impo'sed shall
be due and payable on the last day �f April, 1956, insteacl of on the last day of
October, 1955. � � ` .
Voting was as follows:
Ayes: Councilmen - Anthony, Holyfield, Smith and Sirnons

tax shall be collected on retail sales made on or after January 1, 1956, instead
of July 1, 1955, arid that the firs,t quarterly payment on use .taxes irnp�sed,shall
be due and payable on the last day af April, 1956, instead of on the last day of
October, 1955.

r`equiring them to grant the.request of Mrs. Pearl 5izemare for'water service
to her home adj�oining 2839 5ever.tson Drive.
Couneilman Smith moved that the request af Mrs. Sizemare f�r� water service to
her house and lot adjoining 2839 Severtson Drive be denied, but this motion was
last fflr want of a.second. -
D.eputy Mayor Simons deferred action �on this request for the next regular rn�eting
of the c�uncil, July 5tha

Councilmen canvassed the returns of the Special Municipal Election held Tuesday,
June 21 st:
MOTION: Made by Cfluncilman Smith, seconded by Councilrnan Holyfield that
R.esolution No. 1924 be adopted, Res�lution declaring the results �f the Special
electi�n held in the City af Redding �on June 21, 1955,

RE VACATIQN & SICK LEAVE .- S.uilding Superintendent / ��
In a communication dated June 28th,. City Manager Cowden advised, that acting
on the recomrnendation of his `physician, Suilding Superintendent H9 E. �Mclntire
had requested �one manth leave, two weeks to be applied �on his vacatic�n, tw�
weeks against his accrued sick leave (30 days acc.r.ued sick leave caming to him).
Mr, Mel Sornberger, f�ormer building inspector of the City, was rec�ommended
to assurne duties during Mr. .McIntire's absence, t�. sp'end tw�o haurs iri the m�orn-
ing and two hours in the afternoon performing the duties of the building inspect�or,
at a salary �f $75. 00 per week, iricluding car expenses. It was further re-
commended $400: 00 sick leave be allowed in the 1955-56 budget for this depart-
ment. . �
MOTION:. ._Made by Councilman Halyfield, seconded by. Councilman.Smith that
Mr. McIntire be .granted Teave of absence during the month �of July, and Mr.
Mel S.ornber;ger be. appointed,t�o perform his duties at the salary recommended,
