May�r Holyfield intr�duced Tarva Adcox, boy scflut, who in turn introduced
representatives of B.oy Scout tr��flps 29, 44, 59, 72 and 87, who had been assigned
t� learn, first hand, the operation of city government. _

MOTION: Made by Councilman Sim�ns, seconded by Councilman Fleharty that the
rninutes of the previous meeting of February 21st be approved as mailed to each

Mayor Holyfield advised that council had committed themselves to the West C�oast
' Shows to be held in June, rmdeo grounds, in Reddin�a, This reqizest was referred

March 21st.
TREE REMOVAL REQUEST - J�hn Webb
Mr, J�hn Webb, speaking fram the fl�oor, re.quested council approval f�r the re-
m;oval �of five (5) bug infested trees on Eureka Way and California Streets, at no
exp ens e t� him. ��-7
May�r H�lyfield advised Mr, Webb it was not the p�olicy of the city to remflve trees
at their expense when said removal had been requested by the property owner; and
referred the matter t�o Gity Manager S`tites to confer with Mr, Webb regarding
spraying the trees f�or beetles, removal of the trees, �or cuttin� trees flush with
the ground,

C.ity Manager Stites advised he was of the definite opinion that the City
shauld demand proper and adequate water mains on all water connection
services to apply equally t� installati�ns outside the city limits_,

City Manager Stites advised .that the State of Calif. had requested permission
to rem��ve trees along Riverside Drive and Center St. adjacen� to their new
building and plant at their �own expense replacement trees that would n�ot grow /.Z,
_ too tall. It was further praposed by the State ��o construct new curb and side-
walks that had been ,de.stroyed by the a►ction af the tree roots,
• MOTION: Made by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Simons that
the recornmendatians of the City Manager be accepted, and the State be
authorized to remave trees adjacent to their new building Riverside Drive
and Center Street and replace sidewalks and trees, all at their own expense.
