The meeting was called to ordex by Maymr Holyfield and up�on roll call the
foll�owing c�uncilmen were present: . Simons, Smith and Holyfield, Late:
Councilman Anthony Absent: Councilman Fleharty
- City Attorney Cibula was present, The City Manager wa`s absent, due to ill-
ness.,
ORCHARD ESTATE SUBDIVISION - Mel Peek �S-�
Mr. Bab Reiser, engineer for the Orehard Estate Subdivision, Mel P"eck,
subdivider, advised that�due to the engineering pr�oblem �f curved streets,
the final map was n�t ready to be submitted f�r approval, h�owever every
eff�rt wauld '�e made to have map completed f�r the next regular meeting of
the City Council.
REQUEST FOR REMOVAL OF PARKING METERS �
Mayor Holyfield advised that the plans for the c�onstruction �of the Unian Oil
Station, Market at Shasta Streets, had been ap�r�ved by the Cit�r Council, how-
ever no individual actifln had been taken �n the curb cuts, sh�wing ingress and
' egress. • lG��
MOTION: 1V1ade ,by _Cau�cilman Sim�ns, seconded by C�uncilman Smith that �
Resolut��rr`�I�� 1868 be drawn by the City Att�rney, appr:,�,v�ing request of the
Uni�on Oil Compan�y f�r the removal of three �arking meters mn Shasta Street
and three parking meters �n Market Street, at their expense, meters to be
delivered to the Palice Department. The V�te: Unanim�ous Ayes.
PROCLAMATION - Childrents Dental Health Week
MOTION: Made by C�ouncilman Sim�ons, seconded by C�ouncilman Smith that
Proclamation designating the week �f February 7th through 13th as ChildrenTs �,j f�
Dental Health Week be approved, and Mayor be authorized ta sign said
Proclamation. The Vote: Unanimous Ayes.
,,. SPECIAL PARKING PRIVILEGES - Sierra-Cascade L�gging Conference
MOTION: Made by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Simans that
, Resolution No.. 1867 be adapted, Resolution granting special parking privileges
to the Sierra-Cascade Lagging Canference Convention to be held in Redding � �.�
Febuary 16th to 20th inclusive.
Voting was as f�llmws:
Ayes: C�uncilmen - Simons, 5mith and Holyfield
Noes: Councilmen - Nane
Absent: C�uncilmen - Anthony and Fleharty
B.ID AWARD..- Gasoline & Oil, City �f Redding Year 1955
A communicat"i��n dated January 24th fr�m the City Manager, recornmended that
the Cityts requirements for 1955 for gas�line and oil be awarded to the Tide
Water Ass�ciated Oil Company who were.low bidders on both premium and non
�'L
premium gas.oline, and low bidders far diesel fuel and stove oil. ��'T
MOTION: Made by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Anthony that
the recommendations �f the City Manager be accepted, and bid be awarded ta
the Tidewater Associated Oil Company who bid ,2109 per gallon for non-premium
gasaline, and , 2329 per gallon for premium gas�oline, and who further bid . 133
for diesel oil and ��; 148 for stave ail.
Voting was as follows:
Ayes; Councilmen - Anthony, Simons, Smith and Holyfield
Naes: Councilmen - N�one
Absent: Councilmen - Fleharty
