B LUE .GRAVEI: 1VIINE City Attorney Cibula reported on the Blue Gravel Mine, stating that no monies � had been received to date by the City on the Lease payment, nor had any work been done on the mine. MOTION: �Made by Councilman Simons, seconded :by Councilman Smith that the T;ease of th�e Tupper Lumber �ompany be terminated and attachment be placed � on any property they have there to cover the amount due the Gity, and the City Attorney be authorized to proceed to negotiate a new lease on the Blue Gravel Mine. ADOPTION OF PRELIMINARY BUDGET MOTION: Made by Councilman Simons, seconded by Councilman Smith to approve the preliminary Budget for the fiscal year 1954-55 as submitted, subject to the following modification: That $680. 00 Recreation budget be restored in the form of Unappropriated Reserve, and the General Government Reserve be reduced by a like amount; that the 1937 Waterworks Bond and Interest be .made a part of the expense of the Water Department. Voting was as follows: Ayes: Councilmen - Simons, Smith and Fleharty Noes: Councilmen - None Absent: Councilmen - Anthony and Holyfield It was requested that the City Manager meet with the Parks Commission before passing of the final budget for their recommendation (and cost analysis) to the Council of improvements they consider critieal for this year and their long range Parks program as rriay affeet this years budget. BUSINESS AR.EA STREETS REQUIR.ING RESURFACING MOTION: Made by, Councilman Simons, seconded by Councilman Smith that $6, 300. 00 be appropriated from the Unappropriated Reserve for the repair and construction of business area streets requiring resurfacing. Work to start as Voting was as follows; soori as possible. Attorney be authorized to prepare the rieces�a'ry papers for the vacation of streets in.the Airport property, streets dedicated, but.never opened.
