The�meeting was called to order by Mayor Holyfield.and upon. roll call the following
cou,ncilmen �ere present: Anthony, Holyfield, Simons, Smith and Fleharty.
City Attorney Cibula was also present.

MOTION: Made by Councilrnan Simons, seconded by. Councilman Smith that the
minutes of the previous regular meeting of July 6.th and the adjourned meetings
of July 7, 8, 9 and 12th be approved. as mailed to, each of the councilmen. The
vote: Un�animous Ayeso
COMMUNICATIONS
� S.tate Board of Equalization
' Official notice was sent to council that legislative procedure_in the
' alcoholic beverage license agplications had been c�anged effective
July lst. Notice will be sent to all local governmental agencies and
principal law enforcement officers.on all applications and no license
will be issued before 30 days. The communication states "We solicit
your continued interest and recommendations with respect to applications
for alcoholic beverage licenses:�;;"
U. S, Na�y Recruiting Station
The 'U.: S;, Navy Recruiting Station submitted a letter of thanks to
the City Council for their cooperation in permitting the Navy sub-station
to have rent free office space in the Carnegie Library, and advised
their new location was 1419 Butte Street, Redding. :
Inter-County Chambers of Corrimerce
Notice of the monthly meeting of the Inter-County Chambers .of Commerce
to be held in Hayfork, Trinity County fair grounds on July 20th was sub-
mitted for consideration by the council.
. Planning Consultants Submittal Offer
The firrn of Hahn, Wise and Associates, Planning Consultants of Redwood
City, Calif, submitted an offer for consultant services under date of
July 16th.
This communication was referred to the Planning Commission and all
_ councilmen were invited to attend this meeting to be held Monday,
August 26th,
Petition - Orange St. between Eureka Way & Butte Sts.
A Petition signed by 25 property owners requested the construetion of side-
walks and curbs on property on Orange 5treet between Eureka Way and
Butte Sts, in accordance with the procedural ordinance.
MOTION: Made by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Fleharty, '
that the City Manager be authorized to prepare an estimate of cost and
petition on the proposed construction of street improvements on Orange
St. between Eureka Way and Butte St. in accordance with the Petition
submitted. The.vote:. Unanimaus Ayes.
Treasurer's Report -
Mrs. ;Louise Fancher, City Treasurer, in a communication dated July
19th, advised that annual reports for the fiscal year 1954-55 would
be delayed, pending necessary closing data.

Parks Commi:ssion Recommendation �
" The-Redding'Parks Comn�ission in a letter dated July 19th recomxnended
that Lake Redding Fark be made�available for a community �barbecue
' under the sponsorship of the Asphalt Cowboys on August 1st,
MOTION: Made by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Anthdny ,
that the recommendations of the Parks Commission be accepted" and the f
Asphalt Cowboys be permitted the use of Lake Redding Park.on August
lst for a community barbecue, pr.ovided the park will not be closed to
the public. `Permission is further granted them to sell refreshments, .
inelud'ing beer. The vote: Unanimous ayes. -

MOTION: Made by Councilman Fleharty, seconded by Councilman Anthony that _

. PUBLIC HEARING - Est: of Official Grade on Locust St, , _ _ .
A comrriunication dated July 19th, addressed to the .City_Council from the State
Department of Fish and Game, E. W. Barnett, Business Service Officer, was
read in full, It. states: ---'�In regard to the official grade. matter, the Department
of Fish and =Game certainly does not wish to hinder the progress and expansion of
the City of Redding; therefore, the City will receive no further objections from
� this Department, if it desires to establish the Locust Street.Official Grade at this
, time. Since the Department has a bonafide and recorded deed for the area in
question, physical improvement of Locust Street and Canal Drive will not be per-
mitted until all necessary legal documents are ,executed. It, therefore, �s su.ggested
that the City Attorney be -dixected_to prepare and furnish this Department:the
necessary documents and pr.oposals, so that the same may be referred to our
attor-neys for action._!' � -
The only protest to the establishment of the official grade on Locust Street having
been withdrawn, City Attorney Cibula advised grade.could be established. _
