(Proposed Construction� ` In a communication presented�to the City Council sigried by W. K, Adams, council was adyised that the Redding Sand and Gravel Co. would begiri construction of a commercial plant on Kutras property� for the manufacturing of crushed rock, sand, gravel, paving material, and ready�mix concrete. R7E ALLEY - East Street � ` City Manager'Stites advised that the engineering department was preparing plans; howe.ver property owners had not been contacted on the propos.gd alley, East St, PROPOSED VACATION OF P�ORTTON ;OF CENTER. Sfi; City Manager Stites was instructed to proceed with the survey of property involved in the proposed vacation of a portion of Center Street, and authorized to negotiate with property owners re acqui�sition of land. . RE OUTSIDE, WALKS - Highway 99 Bridge City Manager Stites stated he had been advised by Councilman Smith that bids had been advertis�d on the construction project of widening th'e walks on the Highway 99 bridge and the contract let by the 5tate, Sidewalks will be widened by en- croachment on the street area. It was r.equested this item be removed from the agenda. RE. AKARD S.TREET IMPROVEMENT Mr. Barnett; of the Departinent of Fish and Game; stated that the problem of right of way was involved in the proposed Akard Street improvement. He advised the council it would be possible for the C,ity to pave this street, sending the bill to the State for processing. He further advised it would be possible to write to the State B:oard of Control, who meets rnonthly, and who did have the , power to allocate funds. JOINT CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE LUNCHEON Mayor Holyfield extended, on behalf of the Chambers of Commerce of Redding, Burney, Fall River Valley, Anderson and Cottonw.00d, an invitation to the City C�uncil, the City Manager and the City Attoxney to attend a.luncheon to be held ;S,atur.da,•y, June 26th at 12:15 P. M. Riverview Go1f and "`;ountry Club . The California State Highway C.ommission are having an inspection tour of this area, and the luncheon is to.honor them. � PLANNING. COMMISSION MEETING Mayor Holyfield advised that the Planning Commission had invite� the: City Council to. attend their next regular meeting to_be held Monday at 8:00 P.
