REQUEST ADDITIONAL LI,GHTING - GOLD STre
Mr, Dan .Kelly, 1176 Gold Street, reques.ted Council c.onsideration on the installation
of additional lights on Gold Street, stating that the entire length .of the street was in-
adequately light':e.d�; and presented a hazard, City Manager Stites informed Mr. Kelly �
' that a.lighting program for the City of l�;edding had, been appr:oved and authorize�d by
the Council, and Mr. Kelly would be advised the next day on the additional lights that
were to be ins,talled ;on Gold Street, �
RENEWAL LEASE - R.OY.WILSEY Park�playground
Mr. R;oy Wilsey, 2155 Placer Street, advised the Council his lease .expired May 31,
1954, and reques.ted Gouncil consideration for a fiv,e year .extension on the same terms
with two .provisions: The present leas.e calls for'exclusion of pony r.ides; this ex�=

clusion he requested be r-emoved, That exclusive concession privileges be granted,
excepting on holidays or special days when civic clubs or service groups take over the
park.concessions for t'h_.ese particular days.
This to include the Park area only, not the swimming pool ar.ea. �_ ,

Mr. Wils.ey stated he was contemplating the addition of pony rides, _or train rides,
and the question of additional land space for these additional.�cc;oncr.es�ssa�s� was a
point of discussion. Councilrn�.n Williams favored a definite, -outlined program,
with future plans of development and boundry clearly established.
Mayor Anthony referred this subject bo .th�e Parks Comxnission, with .the Parks C:ommittee,
the City Attorney, the City Manager and Mr. Wilsey to_ meet at noon,_ Tuesday, Jan.

Mr. Buel B. Hunt, Z058 Sonoma Street, protested the personal�property
assessment of a $2500. 00 boat against his property loeated Lot 6, Blo�k 4,

Delinquent Tax Report - month of December �
The delinquent tax report for the month of December was submitted by the office
of' the Delinquent Tax Collector. Collections in the amount of $263. 80 were re-

Re Repair of Damaged Sidewalks . � -
A com:m�anication from �,ity Manager Stites was� submitted for Council consideration
' recommending that�the. subject of sidewalk repair "be .referred to the app-ropriate
� - committee for consideratibn and recommendation. , He-states ''In the"older sections
of the City many sidewalks have been badly damaged by roots of trees growing in
narrow parkways. The extent of these damaged walks is so great that it would
be im�ossible to restore bro�en sections fr.om available street maintenance funds: "
MOTION: Made by Councilman Smith, second�ed by Councilman Williams that the
City Manager be authorized to take out seven trees and repiaee new sidewalks,
and repair the curb on the South side of Butte Street from Oregon to the alley
West of Oreg.on Street. � -

Mayor Anthony referred the City Manager's comm�anication to the Street Committee
for their report and recommendation on the establishment of a policy regarding
repair or replacement of o1d and damaged sidewalks.
Re Shelter for Parks Rolling:Equipment
A communication from J. R. Vaughn, Secretary to the Redding Parks Commission,
recommended that substantial shelter for the parks rolling equipment and parks
supplies and tools be consider.ed in the plans for the City Yard improvements.
This letter was referred to the Parks Com�.�nittee.
Re Installation of Parking Meters �
A communication from Lillian Dobrowsky, Secretary to the City Farking Commission,
recommended that parking meters be extended on both sides of Placer -Street,� from
the alley back of Furity Market, and baek of Wentz Market, to�East Street.

Eureka Way at California and Eureka Way at Court Street .

City Attor.ney C,i�bula.stated he would give a full report on the status of the little Pine
Street s�hool property pending receipt;of a photostatic copy of the Deed. He added
the title report gave a clear title to the property, the�re were no clouds except the
wording of the Deed that property must be used for school purposes.
Mayor Anthony requested this .be placed on the Agenda for the next Gouncil meeting.
