City Council, Adjourned Meeting

May 7th, 1957 11:30 A. M.
Mayor Fleharty called the meeting to order and upon r�ll call.the following
councilmen were present: Halyfield, Kelly, Simons, Fulkerth, and Fleharty.
City Attorney Cibula, Assistant City Attorney Ness, City Manager Cowden
and Director of Public Works Hal �Marron�. were also present.
Mayor Fleharty appointed Councilmen Simnns and Kelly as tellers to canvass
precinct returns of the Special Municipal Bond Electian held Tuesday, April
3 Oth.
Absent voter ballots were counted and tallied. `
MOTION: Made by Councilman Kelly, seconded by Councilman Simons that
Resolution No. 2175 be adopted, a resolution declaring canvass of returns
and results of the Special Municipal Bond Election held.Apri1 30, 1957.
Voting was as follows:
Ayes: Councilmen - Fulkerth, Holyfield, Kelly, Simons and Fleharty
Noes: Councilmen - None
Absent: Councilmen - None , '

D�claring Canvass of Returns, and Results of
Special Municipal Bond Election held ��-�
April 30th, 195?
WHERE.AS, the City Council of the City of Redding, by Ordinarice
No, 523, duly called and ordered held in said City a special municipal _
bond election on the 30th day of April, 1957, for the purpose of sub-
mitting to the qualified voters and electors thereof the measure herein-
after set forth; and
WHERE.AS, it appears that said special municipal bond election was
duly held upon due notice in accordance with law and with said call on said
date aforesaid, and that the polls for said election were kept open during '
the time required by law, and that said electian was held, and conducted,
and the votes thereat received and canvassed, and the returns thereof
ascertained, determined and declared, all as provided by the laws of the
State of California, and by said Ordinance, and this City Council has
duly met and canvassed the returns of said election:
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND
DECLARED by the City Council of the City of Redding, as follows:
1. That the City Clerk of tlie City of Redding be, and is hereby,
instructed to enter this resolution on th'e minutes' of this City.Council as
a statement of the result of said election.
2. That the whole number af votes cast in said City at said election
was 1350. That two (2) ballots were spoiled and not counted,
3. That at said special municipal bond election the following measure
for incurring bonded indebtedness was .submitted to the electors of s,aid -
City and that the number of votes'given in said City for and against said
measure, exclusive of absentee votes, was as f�llows:

(Sewerage incur a bonded indebtedness

intercepting, collecting and main trunk
line sewers, pipes, manholes, valves, �
fittings, lands, easements, and rights of

structures necessary or convenient for
the improvement of the sewerage system �

4, That by said ordinance calling said special municipal bond election
the City of Redding was divided into seven (7) election precincts, lettered
A, B , C, D, E, F, and G, respectively, and that the number of votes cast
in each precinct for and against said rrieasure was as follows:�

vassed in time, form and manner as required by law, and the results of

6. That the total number of votes cast at said special municipal bond
election for" and against said measure submitted thereat, including the
foregoing absentee votes, was as follows:

7. That more than two-thirds of all of the votes cast at said
special municipal bond election were in favor of said measure and
authorized the incurrin'g of a bonded debt for the purpose set forth
therein, and that said measure carried.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of May, 1957, by the following vote:

BIDS - Construction of Sewers 1 st Unit
CONTRACT - Design of Remaining Portion Sewer Project �
M(7TION: Made by Councilman Simons, seconded by Councilman Holyfield
that the Director of Public Works be authorized to advertise for bids for the /-1�
construction of trunk sewers for the lst unit, and that he be further auth�rized
to negotiate contract with Clair A. Hill and Associates for the design of the
remaining portions of the work encompassed by this sewer project. The
Vote: Unanimaus Ayes. �
There being no further business, it was moved by Councilman Simons, seconded
by Councilman Kelly that the meeting be adjourned until Monday, May 13th at
11:30 A.M. The Vote: Unanimous Ayes.
