The Reverend Harry Mark D�dson, pastor of the Four-Square Church, gave the
invocation.

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Fleharty and upon roll call the
following councilmen were present; Fulkerth, Simons and Fleharty. Absent:
Councilmen Holyfield and Kelly. City Manager Cowden and City Attorney
Cibula were also present.
MINUTES - PREVIOUS M.EETING
MOTION: Made by Councilman Simons, seconded by Councilman Fulkerth
that the minutes of the previous meeting of Ju1y 2nd be approved as mailed
to each of the councilmen. The Vote: Unanimous Ayes. �

COMMUNICATIONS
City Problems and Suggestions
Mr. Roy Reed recommended the construction of a �edestrian lane at
South and California Street, an underpass on Gold Street, additional /��
benches at the library park and sidewalks on the south side of Placer
Street.
Re Streets - Riverside Garden Sub'd. ,
Mr. R. M. Kennicott, subdivider of the Riverside Garden 5ub,division,
Kutras Tract, requested reimburs,ement of $2491. 60 in view that. Athens � O�
Avenue was paved with four inches of crusher run base, in most cases _
f�ur to six inches of river gravel had already been applied, two inches � y�
of plant mix was then applied, _making�the specifications used for this,. _
street far exceeding specifications set up and reque.sted on all other
streets in this subdivision. _ -

It was further requested the City accept for,maintenance Athens Avenue
from South Street to the northerly side of Lot 18, Block 1 and the new
extension of Paris Avenue from Athens westerly to the rear of Block 1,
Kutras Tract.
MOTION: Made by Councilman 5imons, seconded by Councilman
Kulkerth that the recommendation of the Gity Engineer be ac'cepted
and Athens Ave nue from South Street to the northerly. sid.e of Lot
18, Block 1 and the new extension of Paris Avenue from At�xens westerly
to the rear of Slock 1, Kutras Tract be accepted for maintenance;
tha� the request for reimbursement of $2491. 60 for the paving of Athens.
Avenue beyond specifiGations set up for other streets in the subdivision
be denied. �

Re Enterprise Public Utility District
Mr. L. R. Thompson, chairman of the Enterprise Public Utility District,
advised council under date of July 12th that the District was contemnlating
the construction and installation of a publicly owned and operated sanitary
sewerage system. He advises two courses of.action were under con-
sideration: The construction of trunk and transmission lines, which � c��
would make possible the delivery of �ewage to the municipal sewage
treatment plant of the City of Redding, or the �onstruction of trunk and
transmission lines and the construction of a sewage disposal works to
serve the District alone. . :

Re Contract - Orchard Estates Subdivision
MOTION: Made by Councilman Simons, seconded by Councilman
Fulkerth that the recommendation of the Assistant" �City Engineer
and the City Manager be accepted, and street contract with the Morgan
Construction Company in the amount of $?, 974. 80 be accepted., 90°fo
of the contract price to be paid. ' f��

APPROVAL OF PAYROLL
MOTION: .Made by Councilman Simnns, seconded by Councilman Fulkerth
that payroll for the last half of June, register Na. 23 and 23A, Warrant
Nas. 3700 to 3909 inclusive, in the amount of $32, 355. 44'b'e approived.

Beutke City Addition Annexation '
The hour of 8:30 P.M. having arrived, Mayor Fleharty opened the Public
Hearing on the proposed annexation of the Beutke City Addition to the City
of Redding.
City Attorney Cibuia showed proof of publ'ication iri'specified newspape�rs
and�proof of mailing of no�tic'e of Public Hea'ring to property owziers in-
volved: ,_ ..

No persons appeared to protest this proposed annexation.
City t�ttorney Cibula filed with the City Clerk "Consent�to be taxed to'pay
any indebtedness or liability of the Ci`ty of Redding contracted prior to or
existing at the time of annexation" signed by F. O. Beutke, Louise A.
Beutke, and Kenneth L. Beutke, both as executor of the estate of Paul
E. and Bertha B. Beutke, and as sole heir' '
CIty Attorney Cibula presented' Ordinance No. 505, authorizing and approving
� the annexatio� of certain territory known and designated as the�"Beutke City
Addition" to the City of Redding.
Councilman Simons offered Ordinance No. 505, 'as listed, for first reading.
Reestablishment of Grade.- Pleasant Street '
City Attorney `Cibula advised that Public Hearing on the reestablishment
of grade Pleasant 5treet from north boundary line of Placer Street to a '
point 1160 feet n�rtherly from n�rth boundary line of Placer Street, had �
been deferred pending conference af Orr M. Chenoweth, property owner,
with his engineer. Verbally_,r , Mr. Chenoweth had advised him, he
continued, �hat if the City would feather fill ground west of road w�ere � �y
it passes his property on the west side, he was satisfied with this grade
as reestablished. Clair Hill, engineer for Mr. Chenoweth, concurred.
City Engineer pon Simpson advised that letters from property owners had
been filed approvirig this grade reestablishment.
MOTION: Made by Councilman Simons, seconded by Councilman_Fulkerth
to approve the reestablishment of grade Pleasant Street from north boundary
line of Placer Street to a point 1160 feet northerly from the north boundary
line of Placer Street, in accordance with m�.p No. 2B-103-0. The Vote:
Unanimous Ayes. �

MOTION: Made by Councilman Si mons, seconded by Councilman Fulkerth that
Ordinance No. 504 be adopted, Ordinance pertaining to the establishment o� an
i, eight ton load limit on Ridge Drive.

MOTION: Made by Councilman Simons, seconded by Councilman Fulkerth that
Resolution N�. 2070 be adopted, Resolution establishing four way stop at
Pine Street at the intersection� with South, and South Street at the intersection
with East.

RE ESTABLISHMENT LOADING ZONE ' '
City Attorney Cibula delayed submittal of Ordinance establishing 1-oading zone � � �
in front of establishment 1457 South St. (Valley Feed Store).
RE TRUNK SEWER LINE - Rancho Park Subdivision
City Attorney Cibula advised that Mr. Sturgis, Bond Attorney, will be in Redding
regarding the formation of the Rancho Park Assessment District for the construction
of a trunk sewer line to serve this area. �d�
It was requested this m.a.tter be deferred for an adjourned meeting of the Council
to be held later this month, or the next regular meeting of the Council, August
6th.
COUNTY ROAD 37-D
Matter deferred pending submittal of tentative map showing proposed road. �� �
RE FINAL MAP - Rolling Hills Subdivision
Mr. George Brenner, Secretary of the Planning Commission, advised that revised
tentative map of the Rolling Hills Subdivision had been conditionally approved, �1�
and recommended a one-year extension of time be granted for the filing of the
final map.
