Redding, California � � July 22, 1963 12:00 Noon The adjourned xneeting was called to order by Mayor Martiri with the following councilmen present: Chatfield, Kriegsman, Moty and Martin. Absent: Councilman Denny. � Also present were City Manager Cowden, City Attorney Murphy, Purchasing Director Stewart and Fire Chief Grant. � � AWARD OF BID - Fire Hall #3 Mr. Richard K. Smart, firm of Smart arid Clabaugh, Architects, A. I. A. , advised bids had been opened W edne sday, July�17th on the construction�of Fire Hall No. 3, and submitted analysis and recommendation. . . � ��1 The base bid ineluded complete construction of the building, with the exception of items to be furnished by the Owner, such as range, refrigerator, drinking fountain and furnishings. Landscaping, drainage, future cu`rb, gutters, paving and removal of the existing building are to be done by the City of Redding. ' Alternate Bid A included the storage-covered work:area on the south end of the building,� and Alternate Bid B included a 1, 000 gallon gas tarik and pump. It was their recommendation contract be awarded for the Base Bid only to Robert S. Bryant, Inc. , in the amount of $49, 380. 00, and that Alternate Bids A and B be rejected. ` Councilman Kriegsman asked Chief Grant if anything in the bid could be eliminated without damaging the efficiency of the plan, and Chief Grant advised the basic plan had carried no f'rills or items easily dispensable. MOTION: Made by Councilman Kriegsman, seconded by Councilman Chatfield to accept the bid of Robert S. Bryant, Inc. , in the amount of $49, 380. 00 in accordance with the recommendation of Richard K. Smart, and.the Mayor be , authorized to sign agreement on behalf of the City. The Vote: Unanimous Ayes. RESOLUTION - Re City Assessor MOTION: Made by Councilman Moty, seconded by Councilman Kriegsman that Resolution No. 3142 be adopted, a resolution of the City Council of the City of Redding discharging .the City Assessor from further accountability for the �%� collection of specified delinquent unsecured taxes. EASEMENT - Pole Line Extension R. 1VI, Airport City Attorney Murphy stressed the importance of granting an easement to the �� � 368 Pacific Gas and Electric Company as it was necessary for them to-have this easement before they could proceed with the installation of this line in c�rder � to serve a customer. � � This item had appeared last council meeting, and had been referred to t:he Airports Commission for report and recommendation. A poll of the Ai�rports Commission had resulted in their recommendation the easement be granted, which was consistent with the Master Plan fo`r the Airpo'rt. MOTION: Made by Councilman Moty, seconded by Councilman Chatfield the granting of an easement to the Paci`fic Gas. and Electric Company be cor.isidered an emergency item. The Vote: Unariimous Ayes. MOTION: Made by Councilman Kriegsman, seconded by Councilman Cr�atfield that th�e �Pacific Gas. and` Electric Compan.y be grarited�an easement at the north boundar}r`of the 1`vlunicipal�Airport property, and the Mayor be granted to sign said easement�on behalf of tlie City. The Vote: Unanimous `Ayes. YNVITATION - Field Trip Bureau of�Land Mariagement Mr. John Tkach, Distr`ict Manage�r of �the U. S. �Bureau of Land Management, exterided an invitation to M`ayor Martin and City Councilmen to attend a field j �5 trip sponsored`by the State Advisory Board, Bureau of Land Manageme�nt on � July 31 st, and August 1 st. This would include a dinner July.31 st at 7:00 P. M. at the Rite Spot,� to be followed next dayliy,r a tour of Trinity County.
