' The meeting was called to order by Mayor Fulkerth with the following councilmen present: Chatfield, Kriegsman, Martin, Moty and Mayor Fulkerth. Also present were City Manager Cowden and City Attorney Murphy. ' Mayor Fulkerth opened the public hearing on the application of Freeman Hackett for vehicle permits for four additional taxicabs in the City of Redding, pursuant to Chapter 28, Section 14, of the Redding City Code. Le e Lopez, attorney representing Freeman Hackett, Redding Cab Company, filed with the City Council petitions '!that the present taxi-cab service is inadequate and unsati_sfactory _in service and is unable to provide cab transpor.tation for hire commensurate with the demand for public transportation in the City, and we believe the City would be better served by two competing cab companies. " A report "Growth of Redding Area" was also filed by Mr. Lopez. Mr. Lop�e� presented Mr. Hackett, Redding Cab Company, who answered questions asked by the City Council. � .
