The meeting was called to order by Mayor Fulkerth with the following councilmen
present: Chatfield, Martin and Fulkerth. Absent: Kriegsman and Moty
Also present were City Manager Cowden, Assistant City Manager and Director
of Finaiice Coiirtney, Director of Public Works a4rness, Purchasing �Agent
5tewart, Fire Chief Grant and.Fire.Marshal Wade.
AWARD OF BIDS � � �
Resurfacing of Benton Airpark, R.unway and T;��.xiway � � �
Director of Public� Works Arnes�s submitted analysis. and recommendation on
Bid Schedule No. 242, Resurfacing of Benton Airpark, Runway and.Taxiway.
It was his recommendation that contract be awarded to A. Teichert and Son,
� �f� low bidder, in the amount of $33, 410. 00.
MOTION: Made by Councilman Chatfield, seconded by Dr. Martin the recom-
mendation of the Director of Public Works be accepted, and Bid Schedule No.
242 be awarded to A. Teichert and Son, Chico, in the amount of $33, 410. 00.
The Vote: Unanimous Ayes. -
California St. - Construction and Resurfacing
Director of Public Works Arness submitted analysis and recommendation on
Bid Schedule No. 239, Construction and Resurfacing of California Street.
It was his recommendation th,at contract be awarded to A. Teichert and Son,
low bidder, in the amount of $49, 443. 50.

MOTION: Made by Councilman Martin, seconded by Councilman Chatfield the
recommendation of the Director of Public Works be accepted, and Bid Schedule
No. 239 be awarded to A. Teichert and Son, Chico, in the amount of $49, 443. 50.
The Vote: Unanimous Ayes.
Various Trucks and Chassis
Purchasing Agent 5tewart submitted analysis and.recommendation on Bid
Schedule No. 240, Various Trucks and Chassis as follows:
Items 1, 2 and 3, Chassis only for sanitation vehicles be awarded to
5hasta Truck and Equipment Company in the amount of $6, 940. 20,
$6, 540. 20 and $6, 615. 20 respectively.
Item 4, Electric line truck and body, the combinati on of Alternate #2 for
chassis only is recommended.to be awarded to Shasta Truck and Equip-
lU � ment of Redding for $7, 211 . 12 and Alternate #3 line truck body installed
on our chassis to Utility Body Company of Berkeley for $7, 238. 17, or
an aggregate of $14, 449. 29 for the vehicle and body.
Item 5, 5treet flusher and chassis, Alternate #3 for the tank assembly,
is recommended to be awarded to Sun.Equipment Company of Oakland
on an Etnyre flusher body for $4, 574. 65 and Alternate #2, chassis
only to the Shasta Truck and Equipment Company of Redding for
$5, 820. 88, or an�aggregate amount of $10, 395. 53 for vehicle chassis
and tank assembly.
Item 6, One ton stake side truck is recommended.to be awarded to the 5hasta
Truck and Equipment Company of Redding for $3, 078.40.
The chassis and trucks are GMC make. '
Each item as enumerated includes tax, delivery and ready for use at our
Corporation Yard.

MOTION: Made by Councilman Chatfield, seconded by Councilman Martin
that recommendations of the Purchasing Agent on Bid Schedule No. 240 be
accepted, and bids. be awarded as itemized. The Vote: Unanimous Ayes.
REQUEST FOR PAR.ADE �
Mr. Frank B. Plummer, President of the Northern California Shrine Club, Ben
Ali Tem�le, `in a coxnmunication dated September 24th, requested permission
from the City for a parade to be held October 13th;; he advised th�e Ben Ali Shrine
Ceremonial is to be held.in Redding this date, and in the neighborhood of twelve
hundred Shriners and their wives will be here. Route of the parade was itemized
and it was stated this route had been cleared with the State Highway Department. %.,

MOTION: Made by Dr. Martin, secox�ded by Councilman Chatfield the request of
the Ben Ali Temple Northern Galifornia Shrine Club be approved. The Vote:
Unanimous Ayes . '
REPORT - Golden Eagle Hotel Fire �
A comprehensive. report of the Golden Eagle Hotel fire on Saturday, S'eptember 22nd
was given by Fire Chief Wilburn Grant and. Fire Marshal L. Wade; Councilmen
asked many questions about the fire and tlze type of equipment used by the depart- ��,�''
ment.
