It was stated the t'erms of the new contract will be more favorable� to the City: � MOTION: Made by Councilman Denny, seconded by Councilman Moty to approve contract employing tlie firm of Stone and Youngberg as Financing Consultant, as modified,. by the Addendum to the Contract and the Mayor be authorized to sign on belialf of the City. APPOINTMENT MAYOR PRO TEMPORE MOTION: Made by Councilman Denny, seconded by Councilman Fulton that Robert Chatfield be elected Mayor Pro Tempore of the City of Redding. ��,5 Voting was as follows: Ayes: Councilmen - Denny, Fulton and Moty Noes: �Councilmen - None Absent: Councilmen - Kriegsman Abstain: Councilmen - Chatfield PRESENTATION � Mayor Moty then presented to Dr. Martin a plaque;.to ,commemo.rate his rnany years of faithful service as councilman and mayor of the City .of Redding. He stated it would be impossible to li.s:t: all his accomplishments as mayor, but the culmination of his term of office was the signing of the power contract with the Bureau of Reclamation, that shortly through Dr, Martin's efforts a water �7� contract would be signed guaranteeing an adequate supply of water to the citizens of Redding; he then spoke of the herculean efforts expended by Dr. Martin in hopeful anticipation6a branch of the University of California would be established in the Redding area. He stated the vacancy in the mayorship was very difficult to replace and that he felt mos.t inadequate. The plaque was presented on behalf of the City, on behalf of council and staff and was a token of the warmth, esteem and friendship in which he was held. ..; Councilman Chatfield stated one of the many qualities that ex-mayor Martin had offered the City.Council was a good deal of wit; that many tirnes this was sorely needed, and was most sincerely appreciated. Councilman Denny expressed his personal gratitude to ex-mayor Martin for not only the services rendered the City of Redding but for the help given him pe r s onally. 110 That he would like to bring to public notice that in the selecting of a new mayor he felt we were most fortunate to have Mr. IVloty occupy �this position and this�feeling �was reftlected�-by.all�merribe-rs"of�the =City Council- including Mr. Kriegsman who was abserit this eve�ning. That Mr. Moty had graduated top of his class at Notre Dame University. DTSPOSITION OF SHO�P BUILDING - Benton Airpark� - . Purchasirig Di�rector Stewa'rt�asked �for- authorization to dispos.e of the, shop building at Bentori'Air`park as its -occuparicy wa's=no longer necessary. However / �� rather than'demolish the entire building;• he� requested per.mis.sion-to moue a portion of �the buildirig'-to the�'Gity�Corporation yard as an addition,to the weld- � ing sliop. Estimate of cost to move $�300. 00�, the rebuilding not to exceed $5�J0. 00. . . . - .
