The meeting was called to order at 11:45 A. M. by Mayor Moty with the
following Councilmen present: Chatfield, Denny, Doherty, and Moty.
Absent Councilman Fulton. .
Also present were City Manager Cowden, Assistant City Manager and Purchasing
Director Stewart, .City Attorney Murphy, Finance Director and Persorinel
Director Courtney, and Director of Public Works Arness.
Remodeling of City Hall
Assistant City Manager Stewart briefed the Council concerning the memo
submitted by Director of Public Works Arness entitled "Remodeling of
City Hall", dated December 9, 1966. He noted that two bids were received;
the low bid for the basic framing being submitted by W. E. Treadwell in
the amount of - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 46, ?16.
He advised the proposed plan would almost double the size of the city
offices. In addition to the work to be performed by the contractor,
Mr. Stewart des:cribed work to be done on the interior for ceiling,
walls, floors, engineering area, insulation and electrical at an
extimated cost of - - - - - - - - -. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 29, 385.
Mr. S;tewart explained that staff believes it would be beneficial to 3g�
completely remodel the air conditioning system in the the existing
offices at the same time the air-.conditioning system is installed in
the new offices. They anticipate a bid for the entire air conditioning
to come in 20°fo to 30% lower than they might receive if separate bids
were called. It is estimated the additional cost for complete air
conditioning would be - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 9, 000.
Mr. Stewart also advised that a switch panel will be needed on the
existing building plus an electrical tie-in to the Engineering Division
at an estimated cost of - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1, 500.
Other estimates are as follows:
Security Counter poors for Clerk, Treasurer, Bldg. Official 1, 600.
Telephone System 1, 100.
� Fire Alarm 2, Q00.
Architectural Fees l, 700.
Miscellaneous Force Account 3, 500.
Total $96;�501.
Mayor Moty said it is expected the remodeling should handle the needs
of the City for ten years based on the present growth pattern. He
pointed out that the design provides for additions in the future if needed.
MOTION: Made by Councilman Chatfield, seconded by Councilman Doherty
accepting the recommendation of the Director of Public Works that Bid
Schedule No. 389 for remodeling City Hall be awarded to W. E. Treadwell
on their low bid of $46, 716.
Voting was as follows:
Ayes: Councilmen - Chatfield, Denny, Doherty, and Moty
Noes: Councilmen - None

MOTION: Made� by Councilman Chatfield, seconded by Councilman Doherty
authorizing staff to advertise for bids for the balance of the City Hall remodeling
work as outlined in the memo from the Director of Public Works and to
include air conditioning the existing building.
. The Vote: Unanimous Ayes
Council concurred that if�any of the bids come in too high, they may be
rejected and the work performed by force account.
