A communication dated August 2nd was received`from the Redding
Junior Tennis Club requesting permission to hold a public dance in
South City Park on Wednesday, August 3rd. `The City Clerk advised
that she had polled the Councilmen by phone and they had.approved

Fulton ratifying Council action re granting a permit to the Redding
Junior Tennis Club to hold a public dance at South City Park on

Ame rican Legion
In a letter'da�ed °August 1Otli the A.rnerican Legion requested per-
mis`sion to�hold a�public dance at Vete rans' Memorial Hall on
Friday, August 12th. The City Clerk advised th•at she liad polled ��
the Councilmen by phone and they had.�approved granting the request.
The letter also requested permission to hold all future dances held
at the Veterans' Memorial Hall sponsored by the American Legion.

Fulton ratifying Council action re granting a permit to the American
Legion to hold a public dance at Veterans' Memorial Hall on August
12th and further granting permission for the American Legion to hold
future dances at said Veterans' Memorial Hall for the remainder of
the calendar year, subject to compliance with the provisions of the

if the County Tax Collector does not have buyers `for these properties, the

the amounts carried on City of �tedding delinquent tax rolls.

Council�ma.n �Chatfield, advised that the Joint Committee of the
Buckeye County Water District and the City Council met regarding
t�e communication from Bond Counsel on_dissolution of.the Buckeye
County Water District: There we,re some,questions which have
since been answered and the matter was submitted to the Buckeye �'=��
� County Water District Board of Dir,ectors; The Board of Directors
has approved putting. the matter to the voters for dissolution of the
District under the terms of the Agreement, as stated in a letter to

WATE�t RATES - Shasta County Hospital
City Manager Cowden.advised Council that with the adoption;of, Resolution
No. 3725 which establishes new water rates, the water bill for the County
Hospital was $979. 16 last month, whereas .under the previous rate structure
,��`'1 for the same amount of water it would have been $41I. 87. Mr.- Cowden
recommerided .tHat the County Hospital be charged at the.old rate for water
delivered to said Hospital, inasmuch as the Hospital i,s:ope,rated by the_ County
for all of the citizens of the County, and also the County constructed the water
line �at a cost. of. some,$18; 000. It,was' also brought�out�that the Hospital lies
within.an.ar.ea_which may be annexed to the City �of Redding{within .the, nea r

Airports -Commission re�.a. revised plan for const-ruction of the parking ;
lot at Benton Airpark. Mr: .McCall pointed out on a map the work
recominende.d to.be done.at an estimated- cost of..$I2, I50. 00, stating :.�
i � � that the cost of the original plan approved by Council was estimated at
$12, 500. 00. Mr. McCall indicated that the work to be done by City for.ces
includes all grading, adjusting water valves and exter�sion of water lines,
removal of existing curb and gutte r at corne r of�Gold,Street a,nd the
Airpark, and filling and setting to final grade, and graveling and oiling
of the future street illustrated on the map.

In answer to Councilman,Denny�s:inquiry as to how much money will be
left o� the original amount allocated for the improvement of Benton Airpark,
Mr. McCall said there w'ill be approximately $7;000 for the administration
building; $200 for landscaping, and approximately $350 left over from the

for commercial development of a restaurant-motel facility which seems

tection.because of the size of the line. It is therefore recommended that

, ,. Councilman Fulton asked about the status of the lease for p�roperty at
]Redding Municipal Airport for a minimum security�fac.ility_to be, constructed l��y
by Shasta Count.y. City Attorney Murphy said he will.have the lease"fi`nished
this week and will then have to get FAA approval and agreement from the
County on the new terms of the lease.
�tEDDING FIRE DEPARTMENT
Councilman Denny commented that he felt the Fire �eport of the City of
�edding Fire Department for the year ending June 30, 1966, was worthy / ���
of inention, pointing out that total fires in the fiscal year ending June 30,
1966 were 218 as compared to 276 fires in the fiscal year ending June 30,
1965.
