HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso. 2025-050 - July Parks and Recreation Month S{�LITTI(?N NO. 2425-050 A SOLUTI�N (3F THE CITY �t.�UNCIL OF THE CITY QF I�DING DECLA NG JULY 20�5 AS PAI�KS AND► +C ATI�}N M01�1TH WHE 'AS, parks and lecreation programs are an integral part of communities throughout this cauntry, including in the City of R.edding; and WHE AS,parks and recreation are vitally important to establishing and maintaii�ing the quality of life in communities, ensuring the health of a11 citizens; and c�ntril�uting to the economic and environrnental well-being of a community and region, and WHE AS, p�rks and recreati€�n pro�rams build healthy, active cornmunities that aid in the pxevention of chronic disease, prc�vide therapeutic recreation services for those whc� are mentally or physically disabled, and alsc� im�rove the mental and emotional health flf all citizens; and WHE AS,parks and recreation pragrams increase a community's economic prosperity through increased property values, expansion of the local tax base, increased tourism, the attraction and retention of business�s, and crime reductian; and i�'HE - A�, parks and recreation areas are fundamental to the environinental we11-being of the commun�ty; and WHE AS, parks and natural recreation areas improve �vater quality, protect groundwater; prevent flooding, improve t�e quality of the air residents breathe, prc�vide vegetative buffers to development, and produce habitat for wildlife; and WHE A�, parks and natural recr�ation areas ensure the ecolQgical beauty of the cc�mmunity and pravide � place for children and adults t� connect witl�nature and recreate autdoors; and WHE �S, the U.S. House of Representatives has designated July as �'arks and Recreation Manth, and WH� .r��, the City af Redding recognizes the benefits derived from parks and recreation resourees; NCD�V THE �+"�? , BE IT SOLVE that the City Council of the City af'Redding hereby proclaims July 2025 as Parks and Re�reation Manth in the City of Redding.
