WHE AS, M�y 15, 2025, has be�n designated by the �alifarnia State Legislature as
Califc�rnia Peace (�fficers" Memorial L7ay; and
WHEREAS,the week of May 11 thrc�ugh May 17, 2Q25, has been designated "Natic�nal
Polic� Week"by both an Act of Congres�and Presidential Prc�clamation, and
WHEREAS,in 2024, 165 officers were killed nationwide,with 4 California offi�ers being`
killed in the line of duty; and
WHEREAS; the safety of aur citizenry greatly depends on the services of the Redding
Police L)epartment,the Shasta County Sheriff's Department,and the Andersc�n Police I�epartment,
as well as the many co�znty; state and federal agencies that make up the law enforcement
community in Shasta County;
l�tU�V, THE Ft?RE, SE IT RES�7►LVED that the City Cour�cil t�f the �ity of Redding
hereby proclaims May 15,2025, as"CalifQrnia Peace Officers' Memorial Daay;"May 15,2025,as
"Shasta County Peace {7ff cers' Memorial I�ay," and May 11 through 1'7, 2025, as "Natic�n�l
Police Memc�rial Week" in the City of Redding.
BE �'T FURTHER S(3LVED that the City Cc�uncil urges resic�ents and civic
organizations to salute this City's dedicated law enforcement profession�ls by attending the�hasta
Caunty Peace Officers' Memorial, and directs that all City of Redding flags be flawn at half-staff
€�n May 15, 2(}25,in honor of t�e peace officers killed in the line c�f d�ty during 2i�24.
