City Council, Regular Meeting

, The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P. M. by Mayor Moty with the
, j following Councilmen present: Chatfield, Denny, Doherty, Fulton, and
i I Moty.

I Also present were City Manager Cowden, City Attorney Murphy, Finance
, Director and Personnel Director Courtney, Public Works Director Arness,
Planning Director Harris, Associate Planner Nebon, Airports' Manager
Mc Call, Pa rks Supe rintendent Bla s e r, and City Cle rk B rayton.
The following resolution was introduced and read to Members of Council:
RESOLUTION NO. 4129
' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
, IN MEMORIAM FOR ROBERT V. STEWART, ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER
AND PURCHASING AGENT OF THE CITY OF REDDING
WHEREAS, Robert V. Stewart, a distinguished citizen and resident
of the City of Redding, died upon September 12, 1968, and
WHEREAS, Robert V. Stewart did reside in the City of Redding from
, 1932 until the time of his death, and during twenty of those years was the

owner and manager of the Stewart Electric Company in this City, and
! WHEREAS, in 1959, Robert V. Stewart was appointed Purchasing
Agent of the City of Redding, and
WHEREAS, in recognition of his outstanding capabilities and
exceptional personal character, in 1964, he was assigned the additional
responsibilities of the position of Assistant City Manager, and
WHEREAS, he rendered outstanding and exceptional service to the
City of Redding ir. those dual capacities from 1964, to the date of his death,
and
WHEREAS, during the period of his public service he personally
� ''� initiated many improvements in the operation of the government of this

City, and
! WHEREAS, the personal character and exemplary conduct of
Robert V. Stewart provided a constant example and guide to those who
were associated with him, and

WHEREAS, this City Council deems it most fitting and proper
that the memory of his significant contributions to good government and
community affairs in the City of Redding be preserved upon the official
records of this City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
- the City of Redding that this Resolution in memory of the life and service
of Robert V. Stewart be spread upon the minutes of this meeting, and
that a suitable copy of this Resolution, duly signed by all members of
this City Council, who knew and appreciated his service to this community,
be prepared, certified by the City Clerk, and delivered to his family.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced
and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding
on the 16th day of September, 1968, and was duly and unanimously
adopted by the enti re City Council as sembled.

Upon the motion of Councilman Chatfield, seconded by Councilman Denny,
Resolution No. 4129 was unanimously adopted.

In memory of the death of Assistant City Manager Robert V. Stewart,
upori the motion of Councilman Fulton, seconded by Councilman Denny,
the meeting was adjourned to 7;00 P. M. , Thursday, September 26, 1968.
