City Council, Adjourned Regular Meeting

The meeting was calleld to order by Mayor Pro Tem Denny with the
following Councilmen present: Anderson, Fultori, and Denny.
Absent: Councilmen: �Chatfield and Moty.
Also present were City Manager Brickwood, City Attorney Murphy,
Finance Director and Personnel Director Courtriey, Public Works
Director Arness, Plarining Director,Harris, Streets Superintendent
Galusha, Assistant City Engineer Lang, : and Deputy City Clerk Richter.
HEMSTED ANNEX NO. 1 _._ .
City Attorney Murphy 'submitted a Resolution of the Local Agency
Formation Commission approving Hemsted Annex No. 1 to the City of
�/� Redding in accordance with Section 54797. 1 proceedings, legal descrip-
tion and boundary to be revised to include all of Cypress Avenue west
of Hilltop Drive and all of Grove Street west of Bechelli Lane.
Resolution No. 72-28.
ORDINANCE - Hemsted Annex No. 1
Councilman Fulton offered Ordinance No. 1101 for first reading, an
ordinance of the City Council of the City of Redding approving the
annexation of certain uninhabited territory designated "Hemsted Annex
No. 1" to the City of Redding.
RESOLUTION - Open Space Grant
Benton Parcels 1J and 1K - Turtle Bay Area
Kutras Parcels Year 5 and Year 6 - Turtle Bay Area
MOTION: Made by Co',uricilman: Anderson, seconded by Councilman
Fulton that Resolution No. 72-81 be adopted, a resolution of the City
Council of the City of Redding approving and providing" for execution
of a Contract for Grant to Acquire and/or Develop Land for Open Space
Purposes No. 478 by and between the City of Redding and the United
,��(� States of America.
Voting was as follows: .
Ayes: Councilmen - Anderson, Denny, and Fulton
Noes: , Councilmen - None
Absent: Councilmen - Chatfield and Moty

HILLTOP ANNEX NO. 4
Planning Director Harris reported that property owners adjacent to the
proposed Hilltop Annex No. 4 have been contacted about the annexation.
The owners of the nine-acre parcel north of Mr. Szewczyk's property
�/ S have agreed to join in �the annexation request. Tlie property owner to
the south, between the Szewczyk property and the Hahn property, chose
not to seek annexation at this time.
Mr. Harris advised that the formal application to the Local Agency
Formation Commission was filed on September 21, 1972. A date for
the formal public hearing by LAFCO has not yet been set.
LEGISLATION
A communication was received from the Shasta County Superint.endent of
Schools announcing that a meeting will be held in Shasta College Board
%� �� Room on September 25, 1972, at 7:30 P.M. concerning Proposition 14,

� TRUNK SEWER EASEMENT - Alzueta
City Attorney Murphy ad'vised that Mr. Finkler has submitted a figure of
$1, 450 as the reasonable value of the sewer easement being taken in
Shasta County Superior Court Case No. 44356. The defendants have �� �
agreed to accept such figure in settlement of the condemnation action.
MOTION: Made by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman
Fulton approving the settlement figure of $1, 450 and authorizing the
City Attorney to proceed with the settlement of this action. The Vote:

ALLEY - Request of Dorothy Hopkins
Consideration of the request of Dorothy Hopkins, 1426 Olive Avenue, ���
that the City pave the alley behind her property was postponed until
the meeting of October 2nd.
HILLTOP DRIVE - Widening
Director of Public Works Arness advised that funds have been budgeted
for the completion of the widening of Hilltop Drive to East Cypress Avenue. ���
A thirteen foot right of way for the northwest corner of Hilltop Drive at
East Cypress Avenue must be acquired before the project can be com-
pleted.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, at the hour of 12:35 P. M. , on the
motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Fulton, the
meeting was adjourned.
