The meeting was call�ed to order at 7:00 P. M. by Mayor Moty with
the following Councilmen present: Anderson, Chatfield, Denny,
Fulton, and Moty. '
Also present were Ci`y Manager Brickwood, City A.ttorney Murphy,
Public Works Director Arness, Planning Director Harris , Traffic
Engineer Hamilton, Associate Civil Engineer Mathis , Sewer Treatment
Plants Superintendeni Hiler, and City Clerk Brayton.
APPROVAL OF MINIJTES
MOTION: Made by Councilman Chatfield, seconded by Councilman
Fulton approving the minutes of the regular meeting of June 19, 1972
as mailed to each Councilman. The Vote: Unanimous Ayes

California Regional Water Quality Control Board
A. communication, dated June 23, 1972, was received from
the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central
�� �� Valley Region, setting forth proposed waste discharge require-
ments for the City of Redding. Comments and recommenda-
tions concerning the proposed order are to be submitted in
writing to the Regional Board by July 10 , 1972 . The matter
was referred to the Council Committee (Councilmen Fulton
and Denny) and staff, and City Manager Brickwood is to
request an extension of time for filing comments and recom-
mendations .
Shasta County Board of Supervisors
�O� An invitation was received from the Board of Supervisors
of Shasta County to the Dedication Ceremonies of the Jones
Valley Boat Launching Facility at 9:30 a.m. , Saturday,
July 15, 1972 ,
PETITION - requesting signal or stop signs at Yuba and East Streets
//,� !� A. petition, containing '68 signatures , requesting the installation of a
signal or stop signs at the intersection of Yuba and East Streets , was
referred to the Traffic and Parking Commission.
PETITION FOR ASSESSMENT DISTRICT PROCEEDINGS
A.n informal petition 'signed by property owners of property fronting on
��� the alley between Son�oma and Skyline Drive, requesting that assess-
ment district proceedings be initiated for alley improvements , was
referred to the Depa itment of Public Works for appropriate action.

Traffic Engineer Hamilton submitted the following recomrnendations of
the Traffic and Parking Commission:

Stop Sign = Edith and Maple Streets
It is recornmended that northbound traffic on Edith Street
be required to stop at Maple Street.

MOTION: Made by Councilman Anderson, seconded by
Councilman Fulton approving the recornmendation of the
Traffic and Parking Commission that northbound traffic
on Edith Street be required to stop at Maple Street, and
instructing the City Attorney to prepare the necessary
resolution. The Vote: Unanimous Ayes
Parking Limitation - Pine Street
It is recommended that a two� hour parking limit be established
on the east side of Pine Street between Gold and South Streets .
MOTION: Made by Councilman Chatfield, seconded by ��� �
Councilman A.nderson approving the recommendation of
the Traffic and Parking Commission re establishment of a
two hour parking limit on the east side of Pine Street be-
tween Gold and South Streets , and instructing the City

MOTION: Made by Councilman Chatfield, seconded by Councilman
A.nderson accepting the recommendation of the Department of Public
Works that Bid Schedule No. 633, Caldwell Park Irrigation System � ��
for Public Plunge Lawn, be awarded to Enterprise Gardens , the low
bidder, in the amount of $13,654.80.

accepting the recommendation of the Department of Public Works that Bid
Schedule No. 634 for construction of Civic A.uditorium North Patio Exten- ��3
sion and Parking Lot be awarded to B. C . Foster, Inc. , on their low bid
of $5 ,448. 00.

under Section 23-20(c) , Redding City Code, at $678. 05 .
MOTION: Made by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman
Chatfield approving the trunk sewer construction fee at $678. 05 per
acre for the period July l , 1972 through December 31, 1972. The
Vote: Unanimous Ayes

P.UBLIC WORKS MONTHLY PLA.NNING REPORT
��� Public Works Director A.rness submitted the Public Works Monthly
Planning Report for the month of June, 1972.
TRA.FFIC SIGNAL - Shasta and Court Streets
Public Works Director Arness submitted a report on the traffic signal
at Court�and Shasta Streets, dated June 29, 1972, in which he recom-
mended that the sign i 1 be re-activated.
/�� � There was a lengthy discussion on the pros and cons of re-activating
the signal, at the coriclusion of which Mayor Moty requested Traffic
Engineer Hamilton to determine if the semi-actuated signal proposed
at Court and Shasta Streets could be synchronized with the existing
signals on Court Street; i.e. , Eureka Way, Placer, and South Streets ,
and what the cost would be: This item was tabled until July 17th.
RESOLUTION - re Application for Grant - Kutras Parcel Year 7
MOTION: Made by Councilman Ander son, seconded by Councilman
Chatfield that Resolution No. 72-60 be adopted, a resolution of the
City Council of the City of Redding authorizing the filing of an appli-
cation for a grant to acquire open-space land (Kutras Parcel Year 7;,

LEA.SE A.GREEMENT - Redding Swim Boosters' Club, Inc .
MOTION: Made by Councilman Chatfield, seconded by Councilman
�/ � Fulton approving the lease between the City of Redding and the Redding
Swim Boosters' Club; Inc. for the refreshment concession stand at Lake
Redding Plunge, and authorizing the Mayor to sign said lease on behalf
of the City. The Vote: Unanimous Ayes
RESOLUTION - Approving Easement to P. G. & E.
MOTION: Made by Councilman A.nderson, seconded by Councilman '
Denny that�R�esolution No. 72-61 be adopted, a resolution of the City
Council of the City ofi Redding approving easement to Pacific Gas and
Electric Company fo I electric utility purposes at Redding Municipal
A.irport and authorizing the Mayor to execute said easement on behalf
