The meeting was called to order at 12:00 Noon by Mayor Denny with the ,
following Councilmen present: Anderson, Demsher, Fulton, and Denny j
Note: Councilman Pugh entered the meeting at 12:20 P.M. , as indicated
hereinafter.
Als,p present were City Manager Brickwood, City A.ttorney Murphy,
Public Works Director A.rness, Planning and Community Development
Director Harris , Personnel and Labor Relations Director Reynolds , ,
City Treasure'r Brown, and City Clerk Brayton. �
Councilwoman -Elect Gard was also present.

CANVA.SS OF ELECTION RETURNS -
Members of Council canvassed the returns of the precinct .votes for
the General Municipal Election held on Tuesday, March 2, 1976 .
RE50LUTION - Declaring Results of Election
MOTION: Made by Councilman Demsher, seconded by Councilman � � C/
Anderson that Resolution No. 76-26 be adopted, a resolution of the /
City Council of the City of Redding approving a proposal to dissolve
the Cascade Community Services District and annex its territory to
the City of Redding.
Voting was as follows:
Ayes: Councilmen - Anderson, Demsher , Fulton, and Denny
Noes: Gouncilmen - None
A.bsent: Councilmen - Pugh
Resolution No. 76-26 is on file in the office of the City Clerk.
OATHS OF OFFICE ADMINISTERED �
The City Clerk administered Oaths of Office to Incumbent Councilman
Fulton, Councilwoman Elect Gard; and Incuinbent City Treasurer Brown.

Mayor Denny stepped down as a Member of Council, Councilman Fulton � �/��
assumed the Chair, and Councilwoman Gard was seated as a Member of
C ounc il.
ELECTION OF MA.YOR A.ND VICE MAYOR
MOTION: Made by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman
Demsher nominating Councilman Fulton as Mayor. The Vote: Unanimous Ayes �7�
MOTION: Made by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman
Demsher that the nominations be closed. The Vote: Unanimous Ayes
Councilman Fulton was elected Mayor by unanimous ballot.

MOTION: Made by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman
Demsher approving the recommendation of staff that a Public Hearing

T 125, re Gener.al Plan Amendment GPA-2-75. The Vote: Unanimous

' TRIBUTE TO RETIRING MA.YOR DENNY
Members of Council and City Manager Brickwood expressed their
j �S� appreciation and high regard for retiring Mayor Denny, speaking of his
many years of public service and of his contributioris to the community.
BUSINESS FROM THE FLOOR
Mayor Fulton suggested that the tenure for the office of Mayor be limited to
/ ��^ two years.

Councilman Pugh entered the meeting at this point in time .
In a discussion of this matter, other members of Council indicated they
were not in ag,reement with Mayor Fulton's suggestion, for various
reasons . No formal action was taken.
ADJOURNMENT �
There being no further business , at the hour of �I2:30 P. M. , Mayor
Fulton declared the meetin� adjourned.
