Dear Mayor Munns, As a long-time City of Redding resident and as an active participant in City, County, State and National issues and politics, I believe the City would be well served by Erin Ryan as a member of the Planning Commission. The Planning Commission requires a clear-eyed view of the growth potential of the community, the historical significance and value of certain areas and buildings, the ability to work with competing interests while maintaining a long view that weighs the costs, benefits, and broader impacts of all the ideas brough before the Commission. I believe Ms. Ryan has the background, interest and foresight to be a great asset to the Commission and the City. Thank you for your consideration, Janet K. Gallino, From: Members. This item is returning to the Council after Mayor Jack Munns failed to gain agreement from the Council for his last suggested appointees. He's bringing back former Beverly Hills RPD Officer Blake Nance who was rejected by the Council last time. He's also suggesting Erin Ryan, a district representative for Congressman Doug LaMalfa. Like Nance, Ryan has never attended a Planning Commission meeting and has no listed environmental or conservation background. In fact, she has no planning -related experience listed in her application at all. Scout ****************************** May I be candid? Mayor Munns' myopic picks reek of cronyism and special interest. It seems to me Erin Ryan was chosen to "win over" the good doctor due to her politics and nothing more. The other guy Nance is just the same dish warmed over. This seems to me like a backroom shady scheme to throw Aaron and Brandi to the wolves. I'm hoping Erin R, Paul, and Mike stand strong. This will be a key test. We're watching closely. Many of us still vote on principles, not personalities, and will not tolerate double- minded men. Thank you. I do appreciate all the work you do. Because you were deadlocked at your last meeting, I wanted to let you know that i support our Mayors picks for the planning commission. Erin Ryan is a steady voice of reason. You should not be voting for people just because you believe that there should be "diversity" on the commission. That is a DEI problem we are currently having across the nation. we should be voting on the best persons/people for the positions. If you need more time to research each of the Mayors picks then take extra time to review their back rounds and opinions of those choices. We know that it is not easy to do business in our beautiful city so we would love to see some changes made to make Redding a better place for everyone. thank you for your consideration.
