DOJ, Tobacco Grant ProgramI.�;�F�Yl�ilh 1�C�1�►Ql�► 1 si ° 1 ME I 2_- 11 - M-8 ou- WHEREAS, The Redding City Council is interest in participating in the Tobacco Grant Program, which is made available through the California Healthcare, Research and Prevention Tobacco Tax Act of 2016 (Prop. 56) and administered by the California Department of Justice (DOJ) to support local efforts to reduce the illegal sale of tobacco products to minors in the City of Redding (City); and WHEREAS, following the City's submittal of a proposal for the Program, the State of California DOJ offered to award $630,569 for the 36 -month program beginning on November 1 2024, and ending on October 31, 2027; and WHEREAS, grant funds will be used for personnel costs related to tobacco enforcement operations, roll call training, and local retailer inspection operations, and WHEREAS, in order to be considered eligible to receive grant funding, the City must submit a completed Grant Award Memorandum of Understanding to the State of California DOJ; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Manager, or a designated representative, is hereby authorized., on behalf of the City, to accept grant funding in the amount of $630,569 from the State of California DOJ and is hereby authorized to execute the grant documents and submit all documents, including, without limitation, contracts, amendments, extension and payment requests as appropriate to accept the funds under andcomplywith conditions of the grant. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of Redding at a regular meeting held on the 5'h day of November, 2024, by the following vote; AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: Johnson, Mezzano, Munns, and Audett-, NOES- COUNCIL MEMBERS: None COUNCIL MEMBERS- ABSTAIN.
