Alternative Action Council may choose not to adopt the budget resolution and provide alternative direction on funding the public parking 1ot improvement project. Background/Analysis RDD's passenger enplanements for the previous three years show significant increases reflecing the impact of new passenger air service routes through the RDD, specifically with new destinations such as Seattle and Burbank. Growth at the RDD increases the wear and tear on facilities, particularly passenger facilities such as the main, paid public parking lot at the terminal. The public parking facilities have degraded significantly and risk creating hazards for users of the parking lot. Report to Redding City Council Apri130,2024 Re: 4.2(a)--BudgetAmendment- City of Redding Airports Division Page 2 In response to functionality and appearance issues related to the main parking lot, the Airports Division is seeking to re-appropriate a portion of its operating budget to fund initial design and engineering costs associated with the design of the parking lot improvements. The engineering design will be managed internally by the City of Redding's Public Works Department who have estimated $50,000 to design the project. Ultimately, this project wi11 return to Council in June 2024 for approval of financing the improvements and the bids/awards related to construction of the improvements.
