F Fu in ate: The City of Redding I�as been diligently wark�ng with the Federa[ Aviation Administration (F ) staff to fund the Redding Regiana[ Airpart (RDD) Runway Rehabi[itatian Project. The project includes �pdates ta the runway,taxiway connectors,blast pad (runway stop way),pavement markings,runway�ED�ighting,e[ectrical improvements and sign [egends. The project was faund by the FAA ta meet the e�igibi[ity and justificatEon requirements and the project scope was appropriate and sized correctly for RDDs needs. The FAA recently announced that it will be �anable to provide funding for RDDs Runway Rehabilitatiar� Project due to funding chal(enges on several high-priority projects. City staff contin�es to wark with at�r FAA partners and Redd�ng Airport Canstructors, the prc��ect's so[e bEdder, to consider alternative approaches, inc�uding phasing the Runway Rehabi[itation Project with a portEan af Fiscal Year 2024 and 2025 FAA funds. "The City and FAA have established a great partnership, and as City staff works through this process,we wil( keep the community updated,"says Bade. Unfortunate�y,the ather potential option�for graund handlers couldr�'t fit inta Ave�o's cost model,"says Bade. Redd�ng Reg�ona� Airport �s not the on[y market Avelo is leav�ng. In early July, Avelo announced six other market exits. RDD cont�nuesto grawthanksto consistent supportfrom trave[ers thraughout Northern Califarnia.Passengers can travel between Redding and the Las Angeles/Ha(�ywaod area on United Airlines through Los Angeles International A�rport (LAX). AdditionaEly, RDD cant�nues ta pravide fEight service to and from San Francisco thraugh tln�ted Airlines and Seatt�e through Ala�ka A�r[ines. RDD is active[y purst�ing add�t�ana(flight services to other dest�natians, ir a a er In May 2024, the C�ty of Redding partnered with a consulting firm to fEnd the ideal candidate for the Airport Manager pasEt�on.
