RESOLUTION NO. 2005-33
A RESOLUT][ON OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF REDDING COMMENDING AND HONORING
PAT KIGHT FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE
TO THE CITY OF REDDING
WHEREAS, Pat Kight has served as a member ofthe Redding City Council since April 21,
1998, providing nearly seven years of dedicated service to the community; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure, Pat Kight served as Mayor from December 4, 2001, to
December 3, 2002; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his services as Mayor, City Council Member, Pat Kight also
served as the City Council liaison to the Economic Development and Electric Utility Departments,
the American Public Power Association, the Northern California Power Agency, the Redding Area
Bus Authority (RABA) representative to the Regional Transportation Planning Agency, and has
served as Chair and Vice Chair of the Redding Housing Authority, the Redding Redevelopment
Agency, the Redding Area Bus Authority and the Redding Joint Powers Financing Authority; and
WHEREAS, Pat Kight has provided consistent, superior leadership during the formulation,
construction and/or completion phases ofthe following projects and successes:
. Sports Complex - Big League Dreams
. Stillwater Business Park
. Renovation and Grand Opening of the Cascade Theatre
. Strong financial position in all City funds
. Completion of the Redding Civic Center
. Parkview Neighborhood Revitalization
. Elimination of the 23% Electric Utility Surcharge two years early
. Aquatic Center
. Downtown Specific and General Plans
. Clover Creek Preserve Area
. Parks, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan including miles of River Trails
. Enhancements of Redding Municipal Airport
. The Market Street Demonstration Block and the Yuba Street Streetscape
. Sundial Bridge; and
WHEREAS, Pat Kight consistently executed the role of City Council Member and Mayor
with pride, integrity and a great sense of humor; and

WHEREAS, Pat Kight also maintains strong ties to the community through his membership
and participation in organizations such as Shasta County Arts Council charter member and past
president, founder of the Riverfront Playhouse in 1981, a former member of the Redding Rotary
Club, and he has served on the Board of Directors of the Shasta County Economic Development
Corporation and the Shasta Builders' Exchange.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding
pays tribute to a man respected and admired for his leadership and dedication to the betterment of
our community.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced and read at a regular
meeting ofthe Redding City COlIDCil of the City of Redding on the 15th day of March 2005, and was
duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote:
