Background/Analysis
The City of Redding hosts the Science Bowl annually, which consists of a highly challenging
and technical question -and -answer competition. The Science Bowl includes some of Northern
California's brightest middle and high school students. The event is open to the public and will
take place at Shasta College on March 9, 2024, between 9 AM and 4 PM. The championship
rounds, featuring the top two middle school and high school teams, will be held in front of a
large, live audience in the Shasta College theater from 2:30-3:30 PM. The championship winners
will earn an all -expense -paid trip to Washington, D.C., to compete in the Department of
Energy's National Science Bowl on April 25 — 29, 2024. We expect approximately 34 teams
representing 22 middle schools and high schools from Butte, Humboldt, Lassen, Shasta,
Siskiyou, Tehama, and Trinity Counties.
Environmental Review
This is not a project defined under the California Environmental Quality Act, and no further
action is required.
