HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso. 78-237 - Urging 1979-1980 Funding for S.B. 174, the "Roberti-Z'Berg Urban Open Space and Recreation Program" 0 0 RESOLUTION NO. 7 � '37 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING URGING 1979-1980 FUNDING FOR S .B. 174 , THE "ROBERTI - Z ' BERG URBAN OPEN SPACE AND RECREATION PROGRAM. " • WHEREAS, S.B. 174 , the "Roberti - Z ' berg Urban Open Space and Recreation Program" , has proven extremely beneficial in the completion of progressive recreation and open space projects in urban and non-urban communities in the State of California, and WHEREAS, a need still exists for the projects made possible by S.B. 174 , and WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and Recreation has recommended that the State ' s 1979-1980 Budget include $25 million for continued funding of S. B. 174 , and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redding deems it in the best interests of the City of Redding, as well as the State of California, to support continued funding of such program, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding supports continued funding for S .B . 174 , the "Roberti - Z ' berg Urban Open Space and Recreation Program" , and urges Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr . to include the sum of $25 million in the State ' s 1979-1980 Budget for said purpose. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall forward copies of this Resolution to State Director of Finance Roy Bell , State Director of Parks and Recreation Russ Cahill, Finance Committee Chairman Senator Alberg Rodda, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Assemblyman Daniel Boatwright, State Senator Ray Johnson, Assembly- man Stan Statham, and Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was intro- duced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the -1- 41, City of Redding on the 4th ' day of December 1978 , and was duly adopted .at :said meeting by ,the following vote : AYES : COUNCILMEN: Fulton, Gard, Kirkpatrick, and Demsher NOES : COUNCILMEN: None ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: Pugh AT EST: / DONALD M.
