HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso. 78-175 - Honoring the 32 Year Existence of the Summit City Public Utility District and Commenmorating its Merger with the Shasta Dam Area Public Utility District, Effective September 1, 1978 RESOLUTION NO. 78-175 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING HONORING THE 32 YEAR EXISTENCE OF THE SUMMIT CITY PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT AND COMMEMORATING ITS MERGER WITH THE SHASTA DAM AREA PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT, EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1 , 1978. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redding has been made aware that the electorate of the Summit City Public Utility District has voted favorably on the dissolution of the Summit City Public Utility District and its merger with or incor- poration into the Shasta Dam Area Public Utility District , effective September 1 , 1978 , and WHEREAS, for 32 years the Summit City Public Utility District effectively took care of the utility needs of the Summit City area, and WHEREAS, September 23 , 1978 , is the 32nd anniversary of the incorporation of the Summit City Public Utility District , and WHEREAS, the merger of the Summit City Public Utility District with the Shasta Dam Area Public Utility District can only provide a more effective and viable unit to deal with the ever- increasing utility problems of the citizens living within the new greater corporate boundaries, NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding that it does commemorate the merger of the Summit City Public Utility District with the Shasta Dam Area Public Utility District, effective September 1 , 1978 , at the occasion • of the celebration thereof on September 23 , 1978 , at the Buckeye Grange Hall . v BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Vice Mayor Lee D . Fulton, �1 uC M. D. and Councilman Archer F. Pugh are authorized and requested C4 1 -1- • to personally deliver this commemorative resolution to the members of the outgoing Board of Directors of the Summit City Public Utility District on this happy occasion.
