A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDDING COMMENDING THE SHASTA HIGH SCHOOL TEAM
FOR WINNING REDDJ[NG'S 2004 REGIONAL SCIENCE BOWL
COMPETITION AND THANKING ALL OF THE PARTICIPANTS,
SPONSORS AND VOLUNTEERS THAT MADE THE SCIENCE
BOWL A SUCCESS.
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Energy sponsors the nationwide Science Bowl
competition each year for high school students to participate in and display their knowledge and
expertise in scientific fields and the Redding Electric Utility coordinates one of three regional
competitions in the State of California;
IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding that:
1. The Council recognizes the Shasta High School Team of Redding California as the
2004 Redding Regional Science Bowl Competition Champions.
2. The Council commends the members of the Shasta High School Team, Sheng Ji,
Manasa Tripuraneni, Nevin Britto, Sky Scholfield, Sean Beecroft, and their coach,
Leo Perez, for their achievement.
3. The Council encourages and supports the Shasta High School Team during their
participation in the 2004 National Competition in Washington, DC, representing the
greater Northern California region.
4. The Council also would like to recognize and thank the many local area businesses
and residents that supported this year's Science Bowl through their contributions,
including but not limited to: City of Shasta Lake, Coca Cola, Energy Solutions,
KMS, Morpheus Lights, North Valley Bank, T-Shirts Unlimited, Trinity Public
Utility District, 'Wallner Plumbing, and the many individuals that volunteered their
assistance.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced, read and adopted at
a regular meeting of the Redding City Council on the 1st day of June, 2004, by the following vote:
