A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 4302 , AND ESTABLISHING A UNIFORM
SPEED LIMIT ON ALL STREETS LOCATED IN ALL CITY PARKS , AND
ORDERING THE INSTALLATION OF APPROPRIATE SIGNS GIVING
NOTICE OF SAID SPEED LIMIT.
WHEREAS, Section 21113 of the California Vehicle Code
authorizes a municipality, pursuant to the action of its legis-
lative body , to establish traffic regulations upon the driveways
or grounds of any municipal institution, and
WHEREAS , the City Council adopted Resolution No . 4302 ,
on May 4 , 1970 , pursuant to a recommendation of the Traffic and
Parking Commission of the City of Redding for a prima facie speed
limit of 15 miles per hour on all roadways in City parks , with
the exception of Rio Drive in Caldwell Park , where the Traffic
Engineer recommended and the City Council approved a different
speed limit of 25 miles per hour , and
WHEREAS , City staff now recommends that a uniform speed
limit for all roadways within all City parks be established at
15 miles per hour, consistent with the aforesaid previous recom-
mendation of the Traffic and Parking Commission , and
WHEREAS , the City Council has considered such recommenda-
tion and deems it to be in the best interest of the City and its
citizens to adopt same ,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Redding as follows :
1. That Resolution No. 4302 is hereby rescinded, and
shall be of no further force and effect.
2 . That a prima facie speed limit of 15 miles per hour
be established on all roadways in all City parks .
3 . That the Director of Public Works is hereby auth-
orized and directed to erect the appropriate signs and markings
to give notice to the traveling public of the provisions of this
resolution, and no person shall thereafter operate a motor vehicle
contrary to said signs and markings . V

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of Redding on the 19th day of June , 1978 , and was
duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote :
AYES : COUNCILMEN: Fulton, Gard, Kirkpatrick, and Demsher
NOES : COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: Pugh
