A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
URGING THE RETENTION IN SHASTA COUNTY OF TELEVISION
STATION KIXE.
WHEREAS, Public Television Station KIXE has as its city
of license, Redding, Shasta County, California, with a transmitter
site located in Shasta County, California, and
WHEREAS, FCC regulations normally require that the main
studio and offices of all television stations be located in the
city of license or at the transmitter site, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Northern California
Educational Television Association, Inc., which operates KIXE, is
currently considering moving the studios of KIXE to the campus of
the California State University at Chico, and
WHEREAS, such a move would prevent easy access to the
station's studio by the people of Redding and Shasta County, and
WHEREAS, the participation of the citizens of Redding and
Shasta County, both as volunteers and financially, in the operation
of KIXE is important for the community and for the television station,
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Redding hereby supports the retention of the main
studio of KIXE in the City of Redding, Shasta County, California.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing.Resolution was intro-
duced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City
of Redding on the 6th day of December, 1976, and was duly adopted
at said meeting by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Anderson, Demsher, Gard, and Fulton
NOES: COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: Pugh
