HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso. 1976-130 - Urging citizens of Redding to vote "yes" on Enterprise Annexation• RESOLUTION NO. %e --/3U • A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING URGING THE CITIZENS OF REDDING TO VOTE "YES" ON THE ENTERPRISE ANNEXATION. WHEREAS, a committee of local citizens called the "Welcome Enterprise Committee"; urges the City Council to make a further recommendation to the voters of the City of Redding to vote "Yes" on the issue of the annexation of the Enterprise Public Utility District to the City of Redding, and WHEREAS, after thorough review, study and discussion of the "Report to the Redding City Council of Information Relating to the Effects, Pro and Con, of Annexing the Enterprise Public Utility District to the City of Redding", we believe that it is in the best long range interests of the citizens of the present City of Redding to permit the annexation of the Enterprise Public Utility District to the City, and WHEREAS, although we recognize that the annexation of Enterprise may cause a short term increase in the City of Redding's expenditures, we believe that this increase is an investment in the future of the total Redding - Enterprise community, and that it is not desirable that Redding and Enterprise continue governmentally to live in isolation from each other, and WHEREAS, the merger by annexation of the City and the Enterprise Public Utility District will permit a unified approach to the solution of the common problems of the total Redding - Enterprise area, and WHEREAS, we wish Enterprise citizens to be aware that they will be welcome in Redding if they choose to annex at this time, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Redding -j urges the voters of the City of Redding to vote "Yes" on November 2, 1976, on the issue of whether or not to annex the Enterprise Public Utility District to the City of Redding. a -1- I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced and read at an adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 25th day of October, 1976, and was duly adopted at said meeting by the .following vote: AYES,: COUNCILMEN: Anderson, Demsher, Gard, and Pugh NOES: COUNCILMEN: None ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: None ABSTAINED: COUNCILMEN: Fulton 00,f LEE D.
