A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
URGING THE CITIZENS OF REDDING TO VOTE "YES" ON THE
ENTERPRISE ANNEXATION.
WHEREAS, a committee of local citizens called the
"Welcome Enterprise Committee"; urges the City Council to make a
further recommendation to the voters of the City of Redding to
vote "Yes" on the issue of the annexation of the Enterprise Public
Utility District to the City of Redding, and
WHEREAS, after thorough review, study and discussion of
the "Report to the Redding City Council of Information Relating to
the Effects, Pro and Con, of Annexing the Enterprise Public Utility
District to the City of Redding", we believe that it is in the best
long range interests of the citizens of the present City of Redding
to permit the annexation of the Enterprise Public Utility District
to the City, and
WHEREAS, although we recognize that the annexation of
Enterprise may cause a short term increase in the City of Redding's
expenditures, we believe that this increase is an investment in the
future of the total Redding - Enterprise community, and that it is
not desirable that Redding and Enterprise continue governmentally
to live in isolation from each other, and
WHEREAS, the merger by annexation of the City and the
Enterprise Public Utility District will permit a unified approach
to the solution of the common problems of the total Redding -
Enterprise area, and
WHEREAS, we wish Enterprise citizens to be aware that
they will be welcome in Redding if they choose to annex at this
time,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Redding
-j
urges the voters of the City of Redding to vote "Yes" on November
2, 1976, on the issue of whether or not to annex the Enterprise
Public Utility District to the City of Redding.
