HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso. 1976-124 - Authorizing acceptance of ten acres of land adjacent to Buckeye Elementary School for park and recreational purposes, and giving certain assurances in connection with the proposed development and use of said landRESOLUTION NO. zl. -/z1,1- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF TEN ACRES OF LAND ADJACENT TO BUCKEYE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FOR PARK AND RECREATIONAL PURPOSES, AND GIVING CERTAIN ASSURANCES IN CONNECTION WITH THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT AND USE OF SAID LAND. WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and Recreation, under a Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant -In -Aid Program, is providing matching funds to the State of California and its political subdivisions for acquiring lands and developing facilities for public outdoor recreation purposes, and WHEREAS, the City Council has previously adopted Resolu- tion No. 76-101, approving the filing of an application for such funds, to be used in the development of the Buckeye Community Park project as it appears on the Open Space and Conservation Element of the City's General Plan, and WHEREAS, the Bureau of Land Management requires as a con- dition to the grant of said funds that the City own fee title to such park land or have a twenty year lease on same, and WHEREAS, the Buckeye School District has agreed to trans- fer fee title to ten acres of land adjacent to Buckeye Elementary School, as shown on the attached diagram, to the City of Redding, on the condition that the recreational facilities to be installed thereon by the City will be designed and located in such a manner as to be usable by Buckeye School students, after review and approval of the development plans by the Buckeye School District Board, and WHEREAS, the Planning Department is preparing an applica- tion for approval of this acquisition by the Bureau of Land Manage- ment, giving assurance that said land will be developed and used in compliance with Bureau of Land Management regulations, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding as follows: 1. The transfer of fee title to ten acres of land adjacent to Buckeye Elementary School, as shown on the attached diagram, to the City of Redding for park and recreational purposes, is hereby approved and accepted.`' IN., -1- t 2. The City of Redding will design and locate the recreational facilities on the subject property in such a manner as to be usable by Buckeye Elementary School students, after review and approval of the development plans by the Buckeye School District Board. 3. The City of Redding will develop and use said property in compliance with Bureau of Land Management regulations.
