A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING DECLARING THAT THE WORK DESCRIBED IN BID SCHEDULE #895 FOR THE SEQUOIA STREET EXTENSION ASSESSMENT DISTRICT CAN BE PERFORMED MORE ECONOMICALLY BY DAY LABOR OR THE MATERIALS OR SUPPLIES FURNISHED AT A LOWER PRICE IN THE OPEN MARKET. WHEREAS, only one bid has been received and opened on September 7, 1976, for the Sequoia Street Extension Assessment District under Bid Schedule #895, and WHEREAS, the Engineer's Estimate for said work is the sum of $30,629.15, and the only bid received was in the sum of $41,472.00, and WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Director of Public Works that Council reject all bids in regard to this project, and by a four-fifths vote of its total membership declare that this project can be performed more economically by day labor or the materials or supplies furnished at a lower price in the open market, and WHEREAS, Government Code Section 37905, upon the adoption of such a resolution, permits the project to be done in the manner stated in the resolution without further complying with the contract provisions for public projects contained within Title 4, Division 3, Part 2, Chapter 6, Article 1, of the Government Code, and WHEREAS, the Council has carefully considered the recom- mendation of the Director of Public Works, and is of the opinion that the action so recommended would be in the best interests of the City of Redding and its citizens, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that it is the declaration of the City Council of the City of Redding that the work specified in Bid Schedule #895 for the Sequoia Street Extension Assessment District can be performed more economically by day labor or the materials or supplies furnished at a lower price in the open market, and that to require the Director of Public Works to readvertise for bids as to this portion of the work would serve no useful purpose. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public Works be and he hereby is authorized to proceed to complete this project -1- 1 in accordance with this declaration. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 7th day of September, 1976, and was duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote: AYES: COUNCILMEN: Anderson, Demsher, Gard, Pugh, and Fulton NOES: COUNCILMEN: None ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: None zv /�r LEE D.
