HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso. 1976-085 - Requesting Board of Supervisors to provide for consolidation of a special revenue bond electionCITY OF REDDING RESOLUTION NO. 74-3✓ RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF SHASTA COUNTY TO PROVIDE FOR THE'CONSOLIDATION OF A SPECIAL REVENUE BOND ELECTION WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 2, 1976 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redding has adopted a resolution calling a special revenue bond election to be held in the City of Redding on Tuesday, November 2, 1976, at which election will be submitted to the qualified electors of the City the following measure, to wit: MEASURE ( ): Shall the City of Redding (Sewer System issue revenue bonds in the Improvements - principal amount of $3,000,000 Revenue Bonds) pursuant to the Revenue Bond Law of 1941 to provide funds for the improvement of the municipal sewer system of the City of Redding, comprising works and facil- ities for the transmission and treatment of sewage, including construction of interceptor sewers and a new wastewater treatment plant, together with related pipes, pumps, valves, machinery and control equipment and necessary lands and easements therefor; and other works, property or structures necessary or convenient for the improvement of the municipal sewer system of the City of Redding? AND WHEREAS, a State of California General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 1976, and it is the desire of the City Council that said special revenue bond election be consolidated with said General Election; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding as follows: C" G11 Section 1. The Board of Supervisors of Shasta County is hereby requested to order the consolidation of said special revenue bond election with said General Elec- tion to be held on Tuesday, November 2, 1976 insofar as the City is concerned, and to further provide that within the territory affected by said order of consolidation, to wit, the City, the election precincts, polling places and voting booths shall in every case be the same and there shall be only one set of election officers in each of said precincts, and to further provide that said measure for issuing revenue bonds hereinabove set forth shall be set forth in the form of ballot to be used at said election insofar as the same is held within the City. The Board of Supervisors of Shasta County is further requested to order the County Clerk of such County (i) to set forth on all sample ballots relat- ing to said consolidated elections, to be mailed to the qualified electors of the City, said measure hereinabove set forth, and to mail with said sample ballots to said electors printed copies of arguments (if any) for and against said measure, and (ii) to provide absent voter ballots for said General Election and said special revenue bond election consolidated therewith for use by qualified electors of the City who are entitled thereto, in the manner provided by law. Section 2. The Board of Supervisors of Shasta County is hereby further authorized to canvass, or cause to be canvassed, as provided by law, the returns of said special revenue bond election with respect to the votes cast on said measure and to certify such canvass of the votes cast for and against said measure to this City Council. �M Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to certify to the due adoption of this reso- lution and to transmit a copy hereof so certified to the Board of Supervisors of the County and to file a copy hereof so certified with the County Clerk of the County.
