SUBJECT: 4.11(d)--Enclosed Office Space for Water Utility Warehouse at Corporation
Yard, Buildin #3 on Vikin Wa
Recommendation
Approve a project to build an enclosed office space, approximately 10-feet by 10-feet, in the City
of Redding Water Warehouse located in Building No. 3 at the Corporation Yard on Viking Way,
in the approximate amount of$7,500.
Fiscal Impact
The proposed praject cost is estimated at $7,500. The Water Utility has sufficient funds available
in the approved Fiscal Year 2023-24 budget.
Altenative Action
The City Council may choose not to approve the build and provide staff with alternate direction.
Backgound/Analysis
The Water Utility requests to build an office space, approximately 10-feet by 10-feet, in the
Water Warehouse in Building #3 at the Corporation Yard on Viking Way. The Water Utility has
a Water Warehouse Worker position who is responsible for ordering, stocking, and maintaining
materials and supplies for the water distribution division. Materials include valves, fittings, pipe,
and concrete. Currently the Warehouse Worker has a desk with a11 necessary office equipment in
an open area of the warehouse. Providing an office space would create a safer and eleaner
environment for computer equipment; a climate-controlled area for staff; a quiet space for phone
conversations; and a comfortable area to meet with vendors and suppliers.
City of Redding's Building Maintenance staff have given an estimate of$7,500 to complete this
proj ect.
