SUBJECT: 2B--Consider Resolution and presentation of appreciation clock honoring Charles
(Chuck) Aukland for distin uished service as the Cit of Reddin 's Director of Public Works.
Recommendation
Award City of Redding Clock of Appreciation; and adopt Resolutian honoring Charles (Chuck)
Aukland for his distinguished service as the City of Redding's Director of Public Works.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
COMMENDING CHARLES (CHUCK) AUKLAND FOR OUTSTANDING
DEDICATED SEI2VICE TO THE CIT1' OF REDDING
WHEREAS, Chuck Aukland began his career with the City of Redding on November 29, 2004, and has
served as Project Coordinator, Assistant City Engineer, Assistant Director of Public Works, and Director of
Public Works; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Aukland has effectively and expertly managed the direction, organization, and
operation of the Airports Division, Engineering Division (Design, Construction, Environmental Management,
Survey and Traffic Operations), Streets Division, Utilities — Water (Collection/Distribution/Treatment),
Wastewater(Collection/Compliance/Industrial Waste Treatment), Storm Drain Utility, Utility Specialists/USA
Locates, Solid Waste-Collection/Customer Service/Transfer Station West Central Landfill and the Fleet
Divisions, and served as the Executive Officer for the Redding Area Bus Authority; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure with the City of Redding, Mr. Aukland was instrumental in leading a
number of projects and programs for the City of Redding, such as:
• Downtown-to-Diestelhorst Bike Trail
• South Bonnyview Road Widening
• South Bonnyview RoadBechelli Lane Roundabout
• Costco Relocation
• Positive Partnership with the Redding Development Community
• Solid Waste Diversion Program including the Pyrolysis Pilot Project
• Secured millions of dollars in state and federal grants
• Infrastructure Master Plans and Asset Management
• Redding Regional Airport Air Service Enhancements
• Redding Regional Airport and Benton Airpark Capital Improvements
• Downtown Parking System
• Downtown Redevelopment
• Rebuilding after the 2018 Carr Fire
• Rebuilding after the 2019 Snowmageddon Event
• Expert Program Management of more than $25 million in Capital Construction Projects
WIIEREAS,in addition to his busy schedule,Mr.Aukland has also demonstrated outstanding community
leadership in the following areas:
• Grant School District Board of Trustees
• United States Air Force—Lt. Colonel, ret,
• Youth Sports Coach
WIIEREAS, in recognition of his exemplary leadership skills, and in the performance of his duties and
responsibilities, Director Aukland has always served the City of Redding with pride, professionalism, and
distinction while providing a high level of integrity and a focus on the community and its citizens;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby
expresses its deep appreciation to Director Chuck Aukland for his dedication, enthusiasm, and the countless and
long-lasting contributions he has made to Shasta County, the City of Redding, and its citizens, and wishes him
future success and happiness as he retires from public service.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Redding on the 215` day of November, 2023, and was duly adopted at said meeting by the
following vote:
