A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING'
APPROVING`THE 'REPORT A.NW FINDINGS OF THE BOARD OF A.PPFA.LS
AND,ORDERING TEF ABATEMENT BY DEMOLITION OF THE TWO
REMAINING UNSAFE AND UNSIGHTLY OUTBUILDI14GS ON PROPERTY
AT 2039 AND 2045 COURT STREET. (Owned by Friesen and
Schalo).
WHEREAS, on September 17, 1979, the City Council adopted
Resolution No. 79-184, a Resolution of Intention to begin abatement
proceedings under the provisions of Chapter_ 9.36 of the Redding
Municipal Code, affecting property owned by Royce L. Friesen and.
Joan G. Friesen, as to an undivided 2/3 interest, and Jack-Schalo
and Helga E. Schalo, as to an undivided 1/3 interest, at 2039 and
2045 Court Street in the City of Redding, being Assessor's Parcels
No. 104-150-21 and No. 104-150-03, and more particularly described
in said Resolution No. 79-184, and
WHEREAS, notice of hearing by the Board of Appeals on
this abatement proceeding has been.posted on the subject property
and personally served on all owners of record, and
WHEREAS, on November 8, 1979, on April 23, 1981.and on
May 28, 1981, public hearings were held before said Board,of Appeals
as provided in said Municipal Code, and testimony received by the.
Board, the Board of Appeals made the following findings:
1. That the burned building has been removed;
2.• That the residential rental has been rehabilitated; and
3. That good` and sufficient cause does not exist why the two
remaining unsafe and unsightly outbuildings on said property should
not be, abated by demolition and removal:, rather than by rehabilita-
tion, for the reason that there is not legal space between the
buildings as they now exist�on the property, and

WHEREAS, said Board of Appeals having filed with this
City Council a report and recommendation for demolit-iori. and-.
removal of the two remaining unsafe and unsightly outbuildings,
and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that this matter is cate-
gorically exempt from the provisions of CEQA,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT.RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Redding that the Report of the Board of Appeals of the City
of Redding of its findings that the two remaining unsafe and un-
sightly outbuildings on property at 2039 and 2045 Court Street
should be abated by demolition, be and said report is hereby
approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council that the Fire
Marshal of the City of Redding is hereby directed to abate said
unsafe and unsightly condition after a period of thirty (30) days,
by having the unsafe and unsightly outbuildings demolished., and he
and.his authorized representatives are hereby expressly authorized
to enter upon the subject property for that purpose, and are
directed to keep,an itemized account of the.cost of such abatement
to be assessed against the property if not paid by the owners.
BE IT FURTHER *-RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution
shall be served upon the property owners in accordance with pro-
visions of Section 9.36.060 of the Redding Municipal Code,, and the
property owners shall have the right to have such unsafe and un-
sightly outbuildings abated by,demolition, providing the same is
done prior to the expiration of thirty` (30) days, at their own
expense.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was intro-
duced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City
of Redding on the 6th day of July , 1981, and was duly adopted at
said meeting by the following vote:
