A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING AGREEING TO THE DESIGNATION OF THE SHASTA COUNTY LOCAL TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION AS THE METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION FOR SHASTA COUNTY. WHEREAS, the federal government has established criteria for identifying metropolitan areas of over 50,000..population to be considered "urbanized" for the purposes of federal assistance, and WHEREAS, the results'.of,the 1980 decennial census have established that an urbanized area exists in the southern portion of Shasta Cou.n y,,which,meets.this criteria, and WHEREAS, each urbanized -area', as a condition to the re- ceipt of federal .operaf-ing.or capital assistance must have a con- tinuing, cooperative and comprehensive transportation planning process consistent -with the rules and regulations established by the U: S. Department of Transportation, and WHEREAS, a Metropolitan Planning Organization shall be designated to carry out this planning,responsibility in urbanized areas, and - WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Planning Organization must be designated by the Governor, based upon agreement among the units of general purpose local government, and WHEREAS, the Shasta County Local Transportation Commis- sion has been designated.as the regional transportation planning agency for Shasta County as a•rural county; and , WHEREAS, the Shasta County Local'Transportation,Commis- sion meets the federal -regulations for representation of local governments as a Metropolitan Planning Organization, 0 NOW, THEREFORE,•EE•IT RESOLVED that the City of Redding hereby agrees to the designation of the Shasta County Local Trans- portation Commission as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for Shasta County, and said body shall be.referred to hereafter as the Shasta County Metropolitan Planning Organization. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was intro- duced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 1st day of June , 1981, and was duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote: AYES: COUNCILMEN: Demsher, Fulton, Gard, Kirkpatrick and Pugh NOES: COUNCILMEN: None ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: None ATTEST: GT�CG � i�C?tiit ��- ETHEL A.
