HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 1977-04-13103 City Council, Special Meeting Police Dept. & Council Chambers Bldg. Redding, California April 13, 1977 6:00 P.M. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M. by Mayor Fulton with the following Councilmen present: Demsher, Gard, Pugh, and Fulton. Absent: Councilman Anderson Also present were City Manager Brickwood, Assistant City Manager Courtney, City Attorney Murphy, Electric Director Simpson, Planning and Community Development Director Harris, and City Clerk Brayton. RESOLUTION - re Contract with the Bureau of Reclamation City Attorney Murphy submitted a proposed contract between the Bureau of Reclamation and the City of Redding which provides for the oL City to obtain electric service from the Keswick Substation. Councilman Pugh stated that the Power Committee has been involved in this for some time and it is the Committee's recommendation that the City proceed. Mr. Pugh said it appears, from the Power Com- mittee's understanding, that it will be of great benefit to the City, leading to a reduction in power costs to the City and to the residents of the City. City Manager Brickwood stated that it will not increase power rates nor will it result in a tax increase; it will pay for itself. Councilman Pugh concurred, stating that it will be self supporting. MOTION: Made by Councilman Pugh, seconded by Councilman Demsher that Resolution No. 77-62 be adopted, a resolution of the City Council of the City of Redding approving a contract with the Bureau of Reclamation for direct electric service to the City of Redding and authorizing the Mayor to execute said contract on behalf of the City. Voting was as follows: Ayes: Councilmen - Demsher, Gard, Pugh, and Fulton Noes: Councilmen - None Absent: Councilmen - Anderson Resolution No. 77-62 is on file in the office of the City Clerk.
