CITY OF REDDING
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
Recommendation
Approve donation of the Redding Fire Department’s obsolete Kenwood mobile radios and
Minitor pagers valued at approximately $5,300 to regional fire departments.
Fiscal Impact
There is no fiscal impact.
Alternative Action
The City Council could choose not to approve the donation and provide alternative direction to
staff.
Background/Analysis
The City of Redding Fire Department (RFD) has completed its radio upgrade to the new
Motorola P-25 Radio system. RFD has up to 40 Minitor pagers and 10 Kenwood mobile radios,
which are antiquated and no longer work on the upgraded system but can be helpful to other
regional partners. RFD has no need for the equipment and donating the equipment to other fire
departments will assist our regional partners.
Environmental Review
This is not a project defined under the California Environmental Quality Act, and no further
action is required.
Council Priority/City Manager Goals

and safe where they live, work, and play in the City of Redding."
