Fiscal Impact Funds are available in Redding Electric Utility’s (REU) adopted General System Improvements budget for Fiscal Year 2022-23 for the additional on-call traffic control services. Alternative Action The City Council could choose not to increase the contract amount and provide alternative direction to staff. Background/Analysis On July 12, 2022, REU solicited on-call traffic control services for routine maintenance, emergencies, and fire mitigation work. There were three qualified bidders that submitted bid packets. Highway Specialty Company, Inc., was awarded Bid No. 5307 for on-call traffic control services. The evaluated bid estimate was $115,330. However, REU has utilized Highway Specialty Company, Inc., for other planned and unplanned projects and expects to exceed the authorized limit of $200,000 in the near future. Staff is requesting authorization to increase the authority limit to $250,000 through the remainder of the contract term of August 31, 2023. Increasing the contract amount will ensure the City of Redding continues to have on-call traffic control services available for all aspects of REU’s daily operational functions.
