SUBJECT: 4.5(a)--Award of Bid Schedule No. 5356- Current Transformers
Recommendation
Authorize the following relative to Bid Sched�ule No. 5356, Current Transformers:
(1) Accept the apparent low bid by Anixter, Inc., and award to Anixter, Inc. for an annual
eval�uated cost of$648,813.06, not including sales tax. The contract period shall be from
April 4, 2023, through March 31, 2024;
(2) Authorize the Purchasing Officer to extend the bid award annually with Anixter, Inc.,
through March 31, 2028, if mutually agreeable and as budget allows, with a11 terms and
conditions remaining the same and price adjustments made in direct proportion to a
Producer Price Index; and
(3) Authorize the City Manager to approve changes to future pricing terms and policies as
needed due to inflation and unstable economic conditions.
Fiscal Impact
Funding for the purchase of current transformers was included in Redding Electric Utility's
adopted budget far Fiscal Year 2022-23. Staff will incorporate current transformer costs for
future years as part of biennial budget requests.
Alternative Action
The City Council could choose not to award the bid to Anixter, Inc., and provide alternative
direction to staff.
Background/Analysis
On Monday, March 6, 2023, three bids were opened for current �ransfarmers. In the evaluation
process, staff analyzed the bids based on the bid price and compliance with specifications. The
apparent evaluated low bid was from Anixter, Inc., for$648,813.06, not including sales tax.

This is a routine bid for current transformers through March 31, 2024, with up to four one-year
contract extensions on an as-needed basis, subject to the availability of budgeted funds. These
current transformers are required to support new and existing commercial services and replace
the existing, aging current transformers in service.
Environmental Review
This is not a project defined under the California Environmental Quality Act, and no further
action is required.
