• A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE 'CITY OF REDDING
SUPPORTING S.B. 547 , THE PARKLANDS AND RENEWABLE RESOURCES
INVESTMENT BOND ISSUE.
WHEREAS, parks and recreation programs vastly .enhance
the urban environment, . and
WHEREAS , leisure and open space in both urban and

- rural areas are a necessity to life because they have a sub-
stantial effect on mental and physical health, economic pro-

• ductivity, and social problems , and• • •
WHEREAS, recreation programs can particularly aid
in improving problems with juvenile delinquency and senior •
citizens in transition, and
"WHEREAS, S.B. 547 would place before . the voters of
California a measure to provide funding for acquisition and
• development of parks, recreation programs, conservation of
natural resources , and access to popular recreation areas , and •
WHEREAS, the proposed parklands program will make
available additional recreation areas in and near population

become •more expensiye,,•-and
' WHEREAS ,' enhancement of .parks and other natural •
•
r;esto.urces ;will have a :direct economic benefit to our community
and the state as a whole, and moreover will benefit the health •
and well of many Californians,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT :RESOLVED that the City Council
• of the City of Redding supports the passage of S. B. 547 , the
Parklands and Renewable Resources Investment Bond Issue.

BE IT FURTHER" RESOLVED that a- copy of this Resolution

shall 11'0 sent by the City Clerk to each member of the Assembly .

Ways and Means, Committee; each of our area' s representatives
in/the• State ,Assembly- and Senate, and the Governor of the
State of California.
nI HEREBY ',CERTIFY ,that the foregoing Resolution was
introduced, and read at a regular meeting of the City Council
• of the City of Redding on the 3rd day of December , 1979 , and
was duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote:
