HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 1980-04-15� I 136 City Council, Adjourned Regular Meeting Police Dept. & Council Chambers Redding, California April 15, 1980 12 Noon The meeting was called to order at 12 Noon by Mayor Demsher with the following Council Members present: Fulton, Gard, Kirkpatrick, Pugh, and Demsher. Also present were City Manager Brickwood, Assistant City Manager Courtney, City Attorney Hays, City Treasurer Pauline Brown, and Deputy City Clerk Richter. CANVASS OF BALLOTS - General Municipal Election held April 8 , 1980 Deputy City Clerk Richter indicated the returns of the General Municipal Election held on Tuesday, April 8, 1980 , have been canvassed and the results submitted in Resolution No. 80-76 . Mrs . Richter recommended its approval. MOTION: Made by Councilman Pugh, seconded by Councilman Kirkpatrick approving adoption of Resolution No. 80-76 , a resolution of the City Council of the City of Redding declaring the results of the General Municipal Election held in the City of Redding on April 8, 1980. Voting was as follows : Ayes: Council Members - Fulton, Gard, Kirkpatrick, Pugh, and Demsher Noes: Council Members - None Absent: Council Members - None Resolution No. 80-76 is on file in the office of the City Clerk. OATHS OF OFFICE ADMINISTERED The Deputy City Clerk administered Oaths of Office to Incumbent Council Members Fulton and Gard, and to Incumbent City Treasurer Pauline Brown. ELECTION OF MAYOR AND VICE MAYOR MOTION: Made by Councilman Kirkpatrick, seconded by Council- woman Gard nominating Councilman Pugh as Mayor. The Vote: Unanimous Ayes At this time, Mayor Demsher stepped down and Councilman Pugh assumed the Mayor ' s chair. MOTION: Made by Councilman Fulton, seconded by Councilwoman Gard nominating Councilman Demsher as Vice Mayor. The Vote : Unanimous Ayes Mayor Pugh congratulated the incumbent Council Members and City Treasurer on their re-elections and stated that the Citizens have expressed their satisfaction with the City Staff and Council . He thanked the Council Members for the confidence placed in him by electing him Mayor. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business , at the hour of 12 : 10 P .M. , Mayor Pugh declared the meeting adjourned.
