CITY OF REDDING
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
Recommendation
Authorize the City Attorney to draft and execute an amendment to the Legal Services Agreement
with Allen Glaessner Hazelwood Werth (C-8394) in the matter of Lang v. City of Redding to
add $50,000 to the maximum compensation payable.
Fiscal Impact
The City Attorney’s Office’s has adequate funding for the amendment increase budgeted in the
Risk-Liability Fund.
Alternative Action
The City Council could provide other direction to staff.
Background/Analysis
Prior estimates of litigation costs in the case of Lang v. City of Redding were underestimated by
both the City Attorney and the litigation counsel. At present, the maximum payable under the
current Legal Services Agreement is $20,303 below the invoiced amount. In order to pay the
current amount due, and to provide some flexibility to account for ongoing litigation, the City
Attorney recommends that the City Council authorize an amendment to the Legal Services
Agreement with Allen Glaessner Hazelwood Werth to add an additional $50,000 to the
maximum amount payable under the contract.
Environmental Review
This action is not a project within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act.
