A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF REDDING COMMENDING
SHERI DEMAAGD FOR OUTSTANDING DEDICATED
SERVICE TO THE CITY OF REDDING
WHEREAS, Sheri DeMaagd began her career with the City of Redding on May 21, 2007, and served
as a Senior Personnel Analyst, Personnel Director and Assistant City Manager; and
WHEREAS, Ms. DeMaagd effectively and expertly managed the direction, organization, and
operation of the Personnel Department; and
WHEREAS, Ms. DeMaagd expertly served as the Assistant City Manager providing guidance and
leadership to the organization; and
WHEREAS, Ms. DeMaagd provided exceptional leadership in her many roles, most notably as the
Assistant City Manager/Personnel Director, and was instrumental in accomplishing the following:
• Successfully managed the City’s Health & Wellness program and effectively led the effort to change
the City’s health provider;
• Served as the City Safety Officer providing expertise, consistency, and excellence;
• Provided oversight of the Human Resources and Risk Management Divisions and implemented
several initiatives to improve efficiency, productivity, and responsiveness;
• Maintained proactive and effective labor relations with the City’s employee partners;
• Provided leadership and expertise during the Carr Fire Response;
• Co-Led the Bureaucracy Buster initiative;
• Led the City’s efforts in improving fire resiliency through the Community Planning Assistance for
Wildfire grant;
• Served as a key decision-maker in the development of several Biennial City budgets;
• Played a key role in developing citywide City Council Agenda items;
• Implemented the Origami Workers Compensation Claim system;
• Provided expert advice and leadership in the administration of the City as the Assistant City
Manager; and
• Provided leadership and expertise during the Covid-19 pandemic.
WHEREAS, Sheri DeMaagd has performed her duties with pride, integrity, and accountability,
always taking into consideration the welfare of the organization and City residents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby
expresses its deep appreciation to Sheri DeMaagd for her dedication and the many contributions she has made
to the City of Redding and its citizens and wishes her future success and happiness as she retires from public
service.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Redding on the 17th day of January, 2023, and was duly adopted at said meeting by
the following vote:
