A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING OF
INTENTION TO BEGIN LEGAL PROCEEDINGS OF ABATEMENT UNDER
CHAPTER 9. 36 OF THE REDDING MUNICIPAL CODE ON CERTAIN REAL
PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF REDDING LOCATED AT 4725 HARRISON
AVENUE, OWNED BY JAMES NEWELL.
WHEREAS, the provisions of Chapter 9. 36 of the Redding
Municipal Code provide that all buildings or structures located
within the City of Redding which are structurally unsafe or are
dilapidated from old age, neglect, decay or other causes which
constitute a fire menace or are dangerous to human life or a
likely resort for vagrant or dissolute persons, may be declared a
nuisance by the City Council of the City of Redding and there-
after abated as provided therein; and
WHEREAS, the Building Official of the City of Redding has
made an inspection of the building located on real property as
hereinafter described and has declared it to be unsafe and/or a
hazard to safety, health and public welfare; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that this matter is categor-
ically exempt from the provisions of CEQA;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Redding that it is the intention of this City Council to
begin legal proceedings of abatement under Chapter 9. 36 of the
Redding Municipal Code on the property described in Exhibit "A"
attached hereto and made a part hereof.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said building mentioned herein-

Chapter 9.36 of the Redding Municipal Code and is hereby ordered
to be abated by repair, rehabilitation, demolition or removal.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Fire Marshal and the Board
of Appeals of the City of Redding are hereby directed to take all
proceedings provided in Chapter 9. 36 of the Redding Municipal
Code.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of
Redding be and hereby is authorized and directed to forward a
certified copy of this resolution to the Shasta County Recorder
for recordation.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was intro-
duced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Redding on the 6th day of November , 1990, and
was duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote:

Redding, State of California, and is described as follows:

'PARCEL 1:
BEGINNING at the most Southerly corner of Lot 7, Block 3 of Harrisons Subdivision, as
shown on the map recorded in Book 7 of Maps at page 7, Shasta County Records; thence,
North 21°40' West, 136.62 feet to the Northeasterly corner of said lot; thence, South
82°15' West, 82 feet, more or less, to the center of the South end,of Harrison Street,
as shown on said map; thence, Southerly 100 feet, more or less, to the South line of
said Lot; thence, Southeasterly along said line, 124 feet, more or less, to point of
beginning.
EXCEPTING THEREFROM all that portion thereof described as:
BEGINNING at the most Northerly corner of Lot 7, Block 3, Harrison Subdivision, as
recorded in Book 7 of Maps at page 7 in the office of the Shasta County Recorder; thence,
on and along the Easterly line of said Lot 7, South 21°40' East, 15.52 feet; thence,
leaving said Easterly line, South 75°07'20" West, 56.86 feet to a point marked by an iron
pin marked RE 5438; thence, North 7°45' West, 22.12 feet to the Southwesterly corner of

A portion of the Reading Grant as shown on that certain map filed in the office of the
County Recorder February 4, 1947 in Book 8 of Land Surveys at page 10, Shasta County
Records particularly described as follows:
COMMENCING at a point from which the East quarter corner of Section 15 of the P. B
Reading Grant bears North 5°09' East, a distance of 2321.75 feet; thence South 7°45' East
on and along the Westerly right of way line of U. S. Highway $99 a distance of 1467.89
feet to the true point of beginning of the description; beginning at said point and run-
' ning thence North 80°51' West, a distance of 360.00 feet to-the line of that certain parcel
of land conveyed by Harvey A. Luckenbach and Lela H. Luckenbach, his wife, to Elreno
Harrison and Mary Harrison, his wife, by deed dated March 20, 1947, recorded March 31,
1947 in Book 265 of Official Records, at page 473, Shasta County Records, and from which
6"x6" concrete monument, as shown in Book 8 of Land Surveys at page 10, Shasta County
Records, bears North 80°51' West, a distance of 449.90 feet; thence North 21°40' West,
on and along the line of the parcel so conveyed 'a distance of 100.00 feet; thence North
83°17'40" East, on and along the line of the parcel so conveyed a distance of 368.57
feet to a point on the Westerly right of way line of U. S. Highway $99; thence South
7°45' East, on and along said last mentioned line a distance of 195.00 feet to the true
point of beginning of this description.
